Orienteering race (Extreme-O) 2:45:00 [3] 6.8 km (24:16 / km)
shoes: Inov8

Extreme-O, Hard Labor Creek, Team StumpKnockers

This was a very well planned (I can tell the organizers spent a lot of time on details) and it turned out to be a very special event. Any adventure race organizer would be lucky to have one of those guys at their side.
We did not enjoy however the crawling in the culverts, in the mud, or under the building, and really could do without.

Some of the elements they used:

1) take an azimuth to some clearing and then identify the control using a picture

2) UTM plotting -> we were all trying to figure out which side of the lake the control was gonna be...well, it on a island in the middlle of it, we kayak to, but some young folkes "walked to it"

3) picture orienteering...from picture to picture

4) at the start you only got instrauction to 1st control...same to second, you better not get lost :)

5) a map that was transioning from regular orinteering map to aerial and back

I went to quite a few adv races, but never seen some of these elements. I dont know the results cause I can't find them posted, but it doesn't matter anyway. I'd love to do it again...but no culverts!
