Graythwaite Middle race. Cracking run, only about one minute lost overall from this and that.

Some important weekend learnings:
-take the first control slow, and maybe even the second.
-spend more time looking at where I’m headed, not just winging it.
-Too much fitness?
-Actually reading the map will help with consistency.
-snickers maybe aren’t so good after all

Graythwaite long. #4 long leg, solid route choice but utter fuck up following people off the path too early, blundering blindly into the woods expecting to find the control. Couldn’t find it. Got confused by infinite crags and walls. Eventually relocated on big clear fell 25 mins later. Never retired before but by #8 I’d had it.

Orienteering race 12:50 [4] 2.65 km (4:51 / km) +35m 4:33 / km
ahr:168 max:184 rhr:45

Windermere sprint. Fell in the burn from halfway down a small crag. Wasn’t one of the cock ups I was expecting. 2nd place at #4 then after terrible burn shortcut to #5 turned 18th. right on top of #6 but couldn’t see it, faffed for 1-2mins like a headless chicken. The rest good but nav too slow for leg speed. Right leg slammed on rocks, bruised but should be good tomorrow.

Easy spin cycle round the block. Not giving the legs a chance to seize up.

Standard trout in your pants run. Plenty of niggles after just two days off. Feeling fit for the weekend tho.
