Orienteering (Night o) 1:00:49 [3] **** 8.03 km (7:34 / km)
ahr:136 max:170

Nighto on tío specific terrain. Started really well happy with performance. Felt strong fast and accurate. A couple of skips and quickly lost speed and enthusiasm. Need to maintain good momentum and learn to keep the past behind.

Summary
- capable navigation and speed
- need to keep confidence and endurance

Orienteering race (Sverigepremiaren) 1:04:08 [4] *** 11.88 km (5:24 / km)
ahr:158 max:174 spiked:27/29c

Night race mass start of Swedish premiere. Hadn’t slept well night before and was feeling quite knackered but after I got changed and a little warmup I felt much better. A little unsure what it would be like so told my self just focus on the orienteering let the pace sort itself. Compass is king. Started right at the back of pack but quickly had space to move.

Felt strong off the start forest was quick good vis. Took a rough bearing and didn’t really plan the first control. Was essentially running off a rough bearing and trying to track the terrain. Hit the wall and relocated a little beyond the control left, spin round found it. Although map was busy simplification here really payed off. Some nice simple lines to follow and I was clean up to 8. Hard to pass people in the forest which was busy. Big boulders and crags worked well as APs with good bearings. 8 cane up hill with poor Bering and got pulled right to another control but quickly realized. Felt a bit tough with the pace on the paths but managed ok. Felt a little dodgy on 11 but was good. Easy to drift on a compass in this area and pick the wrong hill. 16 straight after map changeover was tough control but aimed for good bearing. Just right of path fork into grotty stuff saw large boulder before high point cane right and in. Next couple legs were in tricky areas but keep strong compass and picking obvious contours . 21 came left side of hill on crags whereas most stayed straight. Think I managed to gain a couple places here. Path to 24 was a killer. 25 tough but took bearing to green hit line well and picked way in.

Overall quite happy with performance. Made easier with lots of people in forest but tried to run my own race as much as possible.

Summary
- keep up bearings
- be confident into control don’t sway off
- head up for big features
- think at start

(rest day)

A busy day of lifting and shifting as I move to my new apartment didn’t have time for a run but was very tired after running around all day

Orienteering (Night corridor) 1:15:17 [2] **** 8.36 km (9:00 / km)
ahr:124 max:164

Missed the mass start by five minutes so had a nice solo night corridor. Main focus was to be clean and have good bearings, be smooth with good map contact.

Just picked up keys to my new apartment so a bit excited and things going through my head but tried to knuckle down and minimize errors that I made in bnc. When I got into the control pick I started well but then my bearings were a bit poor and didn’t slow down to read the detail. My shoe was also falling apart which was annoying.

Summary
- head up pick out the obvious features ahead
- slow in detail if you need to
- take good bearings
