A wee update
For all those hungry followers, if they exist to know how my training is going. It’s been 8 days now since my accident and I’m make good progress. But it never seems far enough. Iv been racking up my sitting hours, and can not understand how people can do it all day.

The wound has developed over the week from a cantaloupe melon, to large grapefruit now to a firmer mango. This is size by the way. Thursday I saw signs of new skin growth over the wound which is excellent. And progressively I am able to stand up longer and apply some weight to it. Still trying not to use it too much however with the swelling around the cut.

Activity wise has been quite minimal. The second day in, I ventured to work which was a mistake. Leaving my arms and leg tired and sore. But working from home the rest of the week, iv managed to get to the shops every day, and even take out the recycling yesterday!! Managed to get some core and easy stretching in with no pain, which keeps me sane.

One thing I’ve been reflecting on a bit in this situation is how does one deal with such a shift in their routine and plan. When you consider the physical training aspect, this takes the largest hit. Going from a very active lifestyle to immobile cabbage has all sort of mental and physical challenges. I feel a sense of freedom has gone, my freedom to move. But when I look at the bigger picture, an athlete isn’t just someone that does a lot of physical activity. That’s only part of the puzzle. Rest, nutrition and technical skills are also equally important.

So I have gradually been adapting my free time to focus on these other areas, which I hope will continue to build me into an even stronger athlete. Let’s hope the wound heals quickly.
