Note

I didn't run the Point to Pinnacle today. At 6am the announcement was made that due to some rain the race would go up to halfway and back down instead of finishing at the top.

My two main reasons for running this was one, to do a good solid uphill-only race, and two, to compare my time with that from 2006 (where I ran in sleet and snow). I couldn't achieve either of these goals with the new route. Moreover, it would have been detrimental to my knees (the 10km downhill on tarmac!) and I'd rather keep running for a few more years instead. I will be back in 2026!

Running 33:00 [3] 4.7 km (7:01 / km)

Caught up with my brother and his family in the middle of the day, then in the afternoon I went for a run at the same time as my parents on the new map of Geilston Bay (hills). They always do an orienteering course when they run, but I ran on the paths (much to their disappointment/disapproval).

Started from Chifley and went over(around) Oakey Hill then across to the next little hill behind Curtain, then back over Oakey Hill.

Running tempo 42:00 [3] 8.5 km (4:56 / km)

A lap of Lake Tuggeranong with 2 x 10mins tempo. Familiarising my legs with tarmac. Got a really bad stitch in between the efforts and had to stop for a bit.
As I pulled up for my run in a carpark near a basketball court, some tradies got out of their utes with ladder, powerdrills and a chain basketball net, put it up and then proceeded to play for the whole time I ran. It was heartening, you never see shit like that happen any more. (this court being next to a playground that got badly vandalised soon after it was constructed a year ago).

Running 25:00 [3]

On Farrer Ridge. I somehow managed not to get wet despite a heavy downpour just before, and thunder and lightening all around. It got a bit dark near the end.
