Orienteering race 1:40:34 [3] *** 7.9 km (12:44 / km) +210m 11:14 / km
24c shoes: Inov8 oroc 280

NSW SL event at Wattle Ridge (Bargo State Forest) - mass-start with 4 x 2km-ish loops. So, it was a great area for technical orienteering. Heaps of sandstone and contour detail dispersed rather randomly across the main hilltop and spurs, with the added challenge of reduced visibility throughout most of the area due to vegetation. I was reminded just how thick and spikey Sydney bush can be, and although my nav was ok (except for c5 of the second loop – wouldn’t call that ok!) I struggled to move through parts of the course (particularly in the very green fourth loop).

Running (paths) 1:40:00 [3]

Nice run in Morton NP with Matt. From Amphitheatre carpark along and down to Bundanoon Creek then up to Tooths lookout. Out to the NP entrance, past some country estates, then finished with a loop past some more spectacular lookouts.
The run had everything from waterfalls to sandstone staircases with a good mix of rainforest under the escarpment and dry sclerophyll above. The weather was stunning to top it off.
Also, I saw a massive black snake after investigating a suspicious noise close to where we were sat eating our lunch before the run. The snake slid over a big rock-face and did a bit of free-falling before landing upside down on the ground below. I’ve never seen a snake move so quick after that.

Running (streets) 47:00 [3]

Griffith, Narrabundah, Red Hill. Did a new route including some new streets in Red Hill. I loooove my neighborhood. Felt good for the first 20mins or so then everything got sore for the second half. Clearly my legs haven't yet recovered from the mara.
