Orienteering race 1:17:12 [4] *** 8.7 km (8:52 / km) +300m 7:34 / km
19c shoes: Inov8 oroc 280

NSW Long Champs on Gumble Pinnacles.
Fantastic terrain and fantastic course with some great legs that were tricky and hard to find a safe option, but at the same time the feature at the end was very distinct and not bingo-y, so you just had to concentrate really well to get all the way to the control circle. I had a steady start, a shocking 7-10 and a really good finish. Helped by getting caught by Briohny at c10 and telling myself to pull it together! Will put GPS up hopefully and write more...

Running 5:00 [3]

3min sprint to the start as was running late. Straight through to the map box :) 2min jog back to the car after. Then 4hr drive back to Canberra.... may explain why I'm a bit stiff now!

Orienteering race 35:51 [4] *** 4.3 km (8:20 / km)
23c shoes: Inov8 oroc 280

NSW Middle Champs on Kahli's Rocks near Orange.
I had my GPS watch this weekend so later in the week I'll try and put my route up when I get time, and write some commentary. Awesome fun with some fast stuff to start, then the last two thirds on the rocky slope. I made 3 x smallish mistakes and finished 2mins behind Lizzie.

Running intervals (cycle-path) 19:30 [5]

East basin, wind had died down so not too bad. I did 3 x 1km (80secs rec), 2 x 800m (60secs rec), 400m. I set it up on my watch so it beeped at all the right times (still a novelty!).
Times were 3.48, 3.54, 3.55, 2.59, 3.01, 1.26. Felt a bit restricted by my lungs.

Running (on & off-road) 50:00 [3]

My least favourite kind of run; the roll out of bed, get dressed and go running kind. Horrible! I shuffled my way up to Red Hill (the Red Hill bit of the ridge?) then down and up to Davo. Shuffle shuffle shuffle back down through the streets and home again.

Running hills (Mt Ainslie Run Up) 14:43 [4]

Decided to do the Mt Ainslie Run Up. Lovely day for it. I was fairly conservative and just went up at a pace on the medium side of hard. Was a bit worried any harder would bring on serious lactic acid in the legs. Would be good to crack 14mins some time... that will be my future aim. My mouth was dry at the top and I got some dust on the back of my throat which induced a long-lasting coughing fit. I had an embarrassing 10mins trying to chat to people while coughing the whole time :s Didn't realise there was a tap up there!

Running 31:00 [3]

10.5mins to the start behind the War Memorial, then 20.5 from the top back to work.

Running (off-road) 30:00 [3]

Ran away from work just before 5 as it was a cracking afternoon. Went to Red Hill and ran along it in the last of the light. Saw an echidna... he had NO IDEA. So cute!
