Note

Bushwalking in the Tinderry Range with Jasmine, Craig and Matt (~9hrs). We did a car shuffle so could do a one-way walk. Started at Round Flat and headed off up a steep fire trail for just under an hour before leaving the track and heading through the bush up Tinderry Peak. We had lunch on top and enjoyed the spectacular views. We then picked our way across to the top of Tinderry Twin Peak with a big down and up in between. Then it was off over the other side, navigating through the bush until we came to the Mt Allen fire trail which took us to the second car, parked in the valley near Michelago. So it was about 7hrs off-track but luckily the bush never got too thick so we could always keep moving. Beautifully sunny and warm and a great day all round.
Ps. Saw 3 groups of wild goats! I thought it was great but apparently they're a pest as they dig up the ground. Personally I don't think that's a crime. Also, Jas and I both found a lyrebird tail feather (in different spots) - really long and fancy looking!!

Running 1:16:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Torana 5

Morning run on Black Mt (as in 10.30am - 12 type morning run). Started along the Powerline FT (as exciting as it sounds), then turned left, then turned left again and found myself on the Little Black Mt FT. Ran around that and then straight up to the top of Black Mt (can still run it without walking, get in!). Down and around the circumference single track then down the steep path to the big road intersection with the underpasses, through Frost Hollow, Aranda, underpass, then firetrails on the flat part of Blackie reserve to finish. Beautiful day.

Note

So today is the last day of my "holiday", as I start work at the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism on Monday. I am really surprised to be working only a month after arriving in Australia, but I'm sure it's a good thing and hey, it had to happen eventually ;)

Running race (cycle-path) 19:26 [5] 5.0 km (3:53 / km)
shoes: DS Trainers

Spring XC series 5km - Boat House East.
Felt good for the first 2km and then pretty tired - usual story really!
3.40, 3.50, 3.56, 4.05, 3.54.
Strong headwind for the last km or so and got a stitch with about 1.5kms to go. Had to do an absurd bending over long strided slow motion type run during the last 100m - the stitch had really got me! :P

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Skimped a bit on the warm-up, but did a 15min jog home after.
