Running race (roads) 1:29:12 [5] 13.1 mi (6:49 / mi)
shoes: DS Trainers

Bristol Half Marathon.
Aarrgh! Why why why do I do these things??! :P Totally not fun.
Set off a bit quick, as usual (bad!). First few miles were ok but hey, I can run 4 miles, that's the easy bit. Then I started to tire and got a little worried through the halfway mark (the road clock said 42.53). I began really lacking energy and started looking out for the next energy drink stop which is highly unusual for me and wasn't a good sign. I completely ran out of energy with about 4 miles to go and it was a pretty nasty experience from there. I wanted to pull out but you can't just do that, how embarrassing. Anyway, I made it to the finish in the end (pat on the back). So that's how you run a pretty shit HM - you can check out my atrocious pacing below if you are really bored. My garmin also said it was 13.38 miles so I think it was long but it could just be my garmin... they changed the course this year and added even more wiggles at the end.

Running tempo (mostly tarmac) 32:41 [5] 4.93 mi (6:38 / mi)
shoes: Runners

I wanted to run at about 6.35min/miles and see what it felt like as a practise for the half marathon. Initially I thought I'd run for 60 minutes but then thought 30 minutes would be plenty...
I ran down to the M5 underpass and started there where it was flat and did an out and back through the badlands, 15mins each way. My mile splits were as follows:
6.34
6.35
6.38 (includes turn around and 2 x cattle grid)
6.37
6.15 for 0.94mile - I was going to end exactly on 30mins, then I thought I may as well keep going to finish the mile but it started going uphill then it got really steep so I stopped.
It was really tough so I conclude that I won't run 87mins on Sunday... so I won't use my watch to pace myself. But I'm sure it will be heaps of fun anyway! :P

Running (streets) 25:00 [3]
