WOC Sprint Qual, Sverresborg.
Was a really fun course with a good mix of urban, park, forest and buildings. Started well and had good flow for the first lot of controls. As I punched c7 my emit card back-up thingy fell out and I went back for it, carried it for a while then put it in my back pocket. That stopped my flow a bit, especially as I was just coming into some short sharp controls. Dropped from 8th to 13th on the way up the hill to c10 (25secs down on the leader's time for that leg) - happy at the time with my route but maybe cutting through the forest would have been quicker (I stuck to paths). Missed a small path on route to c13 which would have saved ~10secs. Other than that, happy with navigation and decisions. Really tired for the last few minutes of the course!! 12th in Heat B :)

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Bit of a warm-up including the jog from the pre-start to the start, and a cool down with Shannon after.

Sprint Final. Started in the city centre, crossed a bridge and ran up and around a castle on a hill, then back across the bridge again. I lost ~25secs to the first control which was annoying. Was looking at the leg and noticed a barrier halfway, so chose to go around to the right. But by the time I'd made that decision I was unsure how far I'd run and went in a street or two too early. Got really confused by the road block and had a brain fade. Finally worked out where I was and kept going, doh!
Happy with routes to c5 and c6. Had planned ahead for the tricky c7 on the castle wall, but it wasn't the quickest route in and out. At least I didn't waist time hesitating. The rest of the course went pretty well, with the last few controls being quite straight forward. Pushed hard to the end but not quick enough to get a sprint PB, finishing 30th. Was heaps of fun, but a bit disappointed to not get under 30th place.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Sprint Model map, in Trondheim right next to the sprint Final area. I also had the bit of map with the Czech sprint trials course on it and did some of those controls. Back no worse than yesterday.

Orienteering 32:00 [3] ***
19c shoes: Swoops

A run to test the back on 'Rotvoll'. Did a sprint course (24mins), taking the middle part fairly hard and the other bits easy. Very stiff back but no sharp pain when running so very relieved! Have been getting treatment from Vic each day to control the 'muscle spasms'.
8mins extra jogging afterwards.

Note
(injured)

Extremely sore back. Saw a Chiropractor in the morning and a physio in the afternoon. Chiropractor was very negative and I wasn't impressed at all, just said don't bother going to World Champs and you will have a sore back for 6-8 weeks so come and get treatment twice a week for the next two months. Physio was a little more optimistic and helpful.
PM - worst pain yet, couldn't stand up and even lying down was really painful :(
