Note

Had a late one on Saturday night, getting home at 4am and then up a few hours later to go to my coffee date. Probably shouldn't have driven. Then spent the rest of the day feeling badly hungover. Had our once yearly house inspection to top things off.

East basin loop. My garmin lost satellite contact after about 4km and only regained it just before I finished. Strange. Killer icy headwind on the far side of the lake. Might not run around the lake for a while...

Another easy, short run in the hope of loosening my back. Through Red Hill and Griffith moving anticlockwise for a change. Some pretty wet, windy and cold conditions meant I experienced a bit of face/brain freeze at times (most of the time) and was pretty dizzy by the end.

My back is still quite sore but I went for a jog anyway. Wouldn't want my week to drop off the face of attackpoint history! I ran through Barton, past OPH to NPH. Then I followed a track in between the two circular roads around Capital Hill which was exciting. From Melbourne Ave I ran back through Forrest to home. It was a very up-right/unnatural jog and probably not a good idea! :D

I was going to go for a run today but I've hurt my back again. I did it sleeping!! Or possibly getting out of bed. Am hoping it will skip the 5 days of stiffness and pain and jump straight to being better again tomorrow :s

NOL Long on Astley's Tower, near Kitchener.
Solid first half but became scrappier later on, the main miss being a down-up-down along the valley at c14 losing ~3mins. Fun course with two proper long legs and I enjoyed the challenge. Finished 4th.

NOL Sprint at the University of Newcastle.
Great course but I was a bit scrappy and made mistakes of 20, 30 and 10 seconds (plus many <10). Surprised to still place 2nd, but got smashed by Rachel. Was fun.

NOL Middle at Pelaw Main.
Tricky little course, got the better of me with a 1.5min miss on c10 by the elusive tower, and a 2min mistake where I aimed left but ended up way right and got thoroughly confused! 5th place.

6 x 1min (1min rec). Was going to do 10 but couldn't be bothered once started.

Before and after ints plus recoveries. Ran out to Jerrabomberra wetlands, turned around and ran back.

Forrest, Capital Hill, Barton, home. A little nippy but had plenty of layers so all ok. Felt a bit flat.

ACT Long Champs at Glendale South.
My run was split into sections. The first section to c6 was good. Then on the way to c7 I crossed a road and ran up the wrong slope, realised early but thought I would correct later on, further up the hill. Bad idea and I lost nearly 7mins. Then the next leg to c8 was 'interesting' and, coupled with the recent mistake, induced a mild boo. After the 20min leg to c8 I decided to try again from c9 and lifted the tempo from threre to the finish. This section was more open and I was good on the shorter legs but still dropped some time on the longer legs. Finished 5mins down on Lizzie. It was fun, challenging terrain and I think I enjoyed it quite a lot even though at points I was fed up with the regrowth. Probably should have tried harder to c8 as actually was still in a race at that point! :)

ACT Middle Champs at Kowen Forest East.
Pretty good run but lost 30secs on the last control; left the path at the wrong angle and ran into a gully with a control - not my gully or control! It was a fun course - fast and furious through the pines with lots of direction changes. Finished about 1.45 behind Lizzie.

15 x 1min (1min jog rec). Griffith and Forrest, then Capital Hill, Parliamentary triangle and back through Barton. Needed to wake my legs up a bit, so was a good session to do. Too dark though, especially early on with the car lights shining right into my eyes and hiding the ground before me.

Running 30:00 [3]

7.5mins w/u (with Matt) and the same w/d, plus recoveries between ints.
