Note
(rest day)

Back at work. I got home after 9 after shopping at Cribbs so I just ate dinner when I got home instead (of running). Also had Dave S staying on his way to Poland!

Running 1:18:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

Morning run before packing up our tent. This time on the other side of the valley. We found a track heading in the direction of the top of the hill, less steep than the hill we had run on the previous day. We parked up and headed off. The track was good and I followed it all the way up the ridge through the lovely forest, popping out into the open and reaching the summit shortly after. I was naughty and ran past my 40min turn around time because I was so close by that stage! (~45mins up). The views were amazing, probably the best 360 degree view I've ever had. Then ran back down to the car and we rushed off to try and make our flight on time.

Running 1:02:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

Scenic drive to Aprica via some very high passes!! From Aprica we did an evening run (well we did our separate runs). Mine went up for about 40mins to the top of a chairlift via a small road and then some ski lanes. Then down via some different ski lanes. Shame I couldn't find any tracks to run in through the forest.

Note

Now in a different part of the Dolomites, camping in Bruneck. Did another walk, not as long as the previous day. Cable car back down :) Really spekky area this.

Running long (steep!) 1:23:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

After our walk we drove a bit lower down and went for a run at about 4.30pm. I had memorised a loop and Matt had told me it wouldn't be that steep. Well.... I climbed, and climbed and climbed and climbed. It was the steepest continuous hill run I have ever done. My junction never appeared and so after 46 minutes of up I turned around and ran down. Near my turnaround I got some great views though and hopefully with the training benefit it was worth it :s

Note

Great day of "hiking" in the Brenta Dolomites. Scored two good peaks. Great views and perfect weather.

Running (mostly flat) 1:05:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

We did some driving in the morning to get up into the north of the country. Lovely campsite by the very blue lake at Molveno. Made myself do a lap of the lake, the real holiday couldn't last forever. Sore calves still but had been on the mend since Tuesday so nearly there.

Thursday Jun 23, 2011 #

Note

Tour of Florence. Inevitably a lot of walking around. A lot of art galleries too... saw some very famous paintings apparently...

Wednesday Jun 22, 2011 #

Note

Beach in the morning and then drove into Florence. Sore legs was my ticket to not running AND not feeling guilty about it ;)

Tuesday Jun 21, 2011 #

Note

Woke up with two ruined calves! Both completely strained/fucked. Looking back at it I think I walked down the hills/steps into each village landing on my toes first. I needed to be less lazy, bend my knees a bit more and land heel first. Funny how you forget sometimes how to walk properly!!

We walked around Lucca today and then went to the seaside.

Monday Jun 20, 2011 #

Note

Being a tourist at The Cinque Terre. We walked between the 5 villages (~4.5 hours walking) plus time spent walking around them. Long day!

Running long (paths) 1:37:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

Ran up Mt Pelpi near Bedonia with Matt (~45mins continuous climb). We had some track finding trouble on the way down.

Note
weight:54.2kg

I needed to leave the house between 8am and 8.10am to go for a run before our flight. It totally pissed it down throughout this window of time and so I didn't run. boohoo.

Running race (paths) 26:14 [5]
shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

Blaise Blazer.
Ran hard and felt ok although the three sharp climbs were pretty tough. Hard to tell when I finished whether I should have tried harder in a few places. Felt totally spent on the last hill though so maybe I couldn't have done better. 12secs slower than last year's race exactly 1 year ago. There are three of these each summer so hope to do the one next month. Good BOK turnout. And I was first lady this time which was a bonus, had to sprint for 3rd last year.

Running warm up/down 35:00 [3]

Sunday Jun 5, 2011 #

Note
(rest day)

Busy.

Saturday Jun 4, 2011 #

6 PM

Running (paths) 1:08:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

Parked at the big house in Ashton Court. Ran to Abbots Pool, Gordano Round, usual figure of 8 past Mulberry Farm and back along the infamous Longwood Ln into Ashton Court. Massive mt bike event going on and hogging all the paths. Looked pretty serious (although the single tracks had been gravelled so not hardcore in a technical sense). Miss miss miss mt biking!

Running (paths) 33:00 [3]
weight:54.5kg shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

Short loop(s) in Blaise.

Thursday Jun 2, 2011 #

Running hills (paths) 6:00 [5]
shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

6 x 1min hills up the 'secret' path in Blaise. I was really tired today both physically and mentally. I even thought about giving training a miss. But it turned out to be the warmest day of the year and I just had to get out! I could leave the thermal behind today. I wanted to be reminded what it felt like to sweat and it was great! :D

Running (paths) 33:00 [3]

Running to the hill and running home from the hill via different routes (plus recoveries). I only did 6 hills because I was tired and didn't want to over-do it. I might ease off training this week and next, I have a lot on.
