Orienteering race 1:15:01 [4] *** 9.5 km (7:54 / km) +315m 6:46 / km
shoes: Old sneakers

ACT Long Champs on Foxlow Flats.
My orienteering was pretty scrappy, not surprising as it was on 1:15000. Lost 40secs on c6 and c22, 2mins on c11 because it was vague, and 2mins on c13 because it was mapped poorly (it should have been a 30sec control). I ran very hard to make up for these errors and it paid off luckily.

Event at Atkinson's Trig.
Got there at 12.28 (last starts at 12.30) so I didn't do Red1. I enjoyed the course and was running strongly. However there seemed to be very little similarity between map and terrain (map is in serious need of updating) and this meant there were a few jackpot controls. It was fun trying to nail these when you had no features to use - I hit 2 out of the 3.

My cool-down was cut short when I nearly bumped into a cow in the forest and it started mooing at me and following me and I ran back to my car. Cows are scary.

Mt Bike (single-track) 2:30:00 [3]

90mins with Fel at Mt Stromlo. We did a cool zig-zaggy loop of the Mt and it was awesome fun! I'll be back there again soon, defo.
60mins from Macquarie to Stromlo and back. It was windy and I was glad I wasn't on my road bike.

And that was my last visit to a gym. I've decided I don't do gyms (at least until I know what I want to get out of it).

After work (but from work) around the lake (bridge to bridge) and back to JGB. Was meant to just jog but ran it hard so I could go home asap.

Drove to AIS track and met Jo. We then ran over Bruce's Ridge and did a loop on the slopes of Black Mt. Feeling Ok and it was another beaut day.
Interestingly, this is the first time in the last 12 months I have exercised for 9 consecutive days (to be honest I think it's the first time ever). Having said that, I haven't done any hard sessions (which would explain it).

It was a beautiful afternoon! I set off in just a T-shirt which is highly unusual. Streets and bike-paths to Bruce's Ridge, then up over Black Mt, through Frost Hollow, over Aranda Hill, over Mt Painter (past the water tanks at least) and then home.

I felt really good and ran longer than I'd planned (unheard of). Don't know what came over me, I didn't even feel tired at the end. Must be due to the kg of hair that I got cut off today. Later I got asked for ID when buying some wine at the supermarket... sweet, my new haircut makes me look 7 years younger!!

Old skool loop plus extra bit to Aranda Ovals and home. It was raining when I set off but that stopped and then it was just cold (and dark). Didn't really feel like it on a Friday but had to do it to net-off all the bad food I'd eaten today. Was going to be a 60min run but I did it a bit quicker.

Quite a quick pace as I was trying to get value for time. Lunch break run - across Kings Ave bridge then east along the bike path beside the river. Saw a snake on the bike path!!! But it was dead (I concluded after stopping my watch and throwing a few sticks at it).

Gym 43:00 [3]

Woo... first time in a gym since I had 7 weeks membership in 2002.
30mins bike.
13mins treadmill.
PLUS 20 situps.
Spent most of the time on the treadmill scared as hell that I would trip and fall off. It was going too slow and I only seemed to use half the normal running muscles. In summary I think treadmill is gay.

Figure of 8 loop taking in the sights of Aranda Bushland and Mt Painter. Bit wet but that made it quite nice. Sore right hamstring.

Girly run with Cath, Fel and Miss Jones (last run of Spring Running Week). From Northbourne to Mt Ainslie and around it anti-clockwise. Easy pace but I still struggled for the last half-hour. Both knees hurt the whole time, I must be training too much.

Finished with Koko Black. Defeated the purpose of going to a chocolate cafe by having an iced-coffee, but it was a good one!

Some tracks on Mt Ainslie - up a ridge onto little Ainslie(?) then to the top (of big Ainslie) and down a different way.

Raced home from work to catch the light, but it was dark when I set out. Ran on the track past Mt Painter, then streets to Aranda Ovals and home. It was really cold.
