Running 51:00 [3]

Up XYZ Rivulet to Hobart College, then back down Mt Nelson stairs.
I think I have 'done' Mt Nelson now. Would like to run somewhere else but it's hard to find the time.

Friday Sep 29, 2006 #

Running 1:01:00 [3]

Up to Mt Nelson signal station - Truganini Track - Sandy Bay Rd.
Felt better than I normally do on the hills.

Thursday Sep 28, 2006 #

Running 35:00 [4]

Churchill Ave/Sandy Bay Rd.
My MP3 player died on Friday so I didn't have much motivation to run, pounding pavements in the dark.

Wednesday Sep 27, 2006 #

Mt Bike 1:30:00 [3]

Up waterworks Rd to Halls Saddle. This was hell steep, 13% in parts I've been told :( Then down the Hobart Rivulet Track. It rained the whole time and I got extremely muddy and cold.
Enjoyment factor: 0

Tuesday Sep 26, 2006 #

Note

Still sore.

Monday Sep 25, 2006 #

Note

Sore foot.

Sunday Sep 24, 2006 #

Orienteering 48:00 [3] 4.8 km (10:00 / km)

Tasmanian Relay Championships
The A team: Lee, Me, Louis.
I woke up with an extremely sore foot. Don't know how it got so bad, didn't want to run but people assured me I wouldn't notice it once I was running. But out in the forest I had the word PAIN etched into my brain and I couldn't run or navigate to save myself. Got to the spectator control and started running the final loop backwards. But my gun team mates did awesome and we won anyway.

Saturday Sep 23, 2006 #

Orienteering 1:11:31 [5] **** 8.5 km (8:25 / km)
spiked:12/15c

Tasmanian Championships
St Helens, 'Littlechilds Creek'
I was running really well and hit the controls well... except for the last two. Bad exit direction on both occasions and lost all speed. But, it was a really fun course, and all I needed was a finish time to win. Pleased with my route choice decisions.

Thursday Sep 21, 2006 #

Note

Too busy. And no, training before 8am is not an option.

Wednesday Sep 20, 2006 #

Mt Bike 1:20:00 [3]

Mt Nelson and Tolmans Hill with Tom.
Tricky single track coming off Tolmans (too tricky for me on this particular day).

Tuesday Sep 19, 2006 #

Note
(rest day)

Monday Sep 18, 2006 #

Running 1:42:00 [3]

Churchill Ave - Mt Nelson - Tolmans Hill - Halls Saddle - Waterworks - Churchill.
I had to run off the take-away I'd eaten three nights straight. Sore knees.

Sunday Sep 17, 2006 #

Orienteering 30:53 [5] ** 4.1 km (7:32 / km)
17c

Southern Local - Knocklofty. Long course.
One control in the wrong spot, one control marked up incorrectly by me.... but I got them all in the end. Not a bad course considering the map. I wasn't as accurate as I should have been.

Saturday Sep 16, 2006 #

Running 35:00 [4]

Churchill Ave, Sandy Bay Rd.
Cold. Took music - I don't know how I ever trained without it! Made sure I didn't look twice at anything suspicious.

Friday Sep 15, 2006 #

Running 37:00 [4]

Up XYZ Rivulet, down Mt Nelson stairs, along to Nutgrove beach....where I found a dead body floating in the water. My run was cut short and eventually a nice policeman gave me a lift home.

Wednesday Sep 13, 2006 #

Running 57:00 [4]

Rosny College to Howrah Primary School via the foreshore (return). Quite warm and no wind - very nice. Knees were a bit sore.

Tuesday Sep 12, 2006 #

Note
(rest day)

Was gonna do something but never got around to it.

Monday Sep 11, 2006 #

Mt Bike 1:20:00 [3]

With Tom L.
It was great to ride my fav bike after so long. Tommy took me on some new tracks on Mt Nelson, starting with a tough climb and finishing with a fast descent on a track that came out 100m from my house and I never knew it existed! Felt fine but the tracks up top were quite rocky.

Sunday Sep 10, 2006 #

Road Bike 1:00:00 [3]

Sandy Bay to Risdon Brook Dam. Roads weren't too busy so it was a little quicker than expected.

Orienteering 2:00:00 [3] **

Risdon Brook Dam.
TIS athletes training session No2. I put out controls, shadowed newbies and collected controls.

Road Bike 1:00:00 [3]

Rode home. It was warmer and so more enjoyable.

Saturday Sep 9, 2006 #

Running 29:00 [4]

Knocklofty Reserve, usual loop. Felt ok.

Friday Sep 8, 2006 #

Note
(rest day)

Far too wet and cold.

Thursday Sep 7, 2006 #

Road Bike 47:00 [3]

24 min ride to the Domain so I could run my time trial. Then a 23 min ride home. It was wet and there was heaps of traffic and I was glad to make it home alive.

Time Trial 21:04 [5]

Fiddler's Handicap course - Time Trial.
PB! Didn't feel that great but still pushed hard and finished strongly.

For my own future reference:
22/11/05: 23:10
29/11/05: 22:43
06/12/05: 24:33
13/12/05: 23:00
17/01/06: 22:20
21/02/06: 23:20
05/04/06: 22:57
09/05/06: 22:04
31/05/06: 21:37
07/09/06: 21:04
The last three times I have cycled to the Domain instead of driving. Maybe warming up does actually help!

Wednesday Sep 6, 2006 #

Running 57:30 [3]

Up XYZ Rivulet to Mt Nelson. Ran around the tracks up near Hobart College then back down the same way. I kept getting a stitch which was annoying.... must have been all the chocolate éclairs :(

Monday Sep 4, 2006 #

Running 27:00 [4]

Churchill Ave, Sandy Bay Rd loop.
It was dark and quite cold. I took music and it helped.

Sunday Sep 3, 2006 #

Orienteering race 1:23:36 [4] *** 9.6 km (8:42 / km)
spiked:10/12c weight:52kg

Sandstone Valleys, course 1.
Stuffed up the first (direction error). Really really slow to relocate. Thought 'this sucks I'm going home', then tripped over the control (it was actually quite close by). So then I had to keep going.

My concentration was terrible, I think I only thought about orienteering for a total of 2 mins. And louis beat me by a minute, gutted. And I stacked it badly (again).

Saturday Sep 2, 2006 #

Note

Rest day (hungover?) Eskimo Joe went off.....

Friday Sep 1, 2006 #

Running 53:00 [3]

Zig-zagged my way through the Waterworks Reserve to Halls Saddle and then back down a more direct way.
Didn't feel that spesh... it was a bit of a slog actually.
