Running 5:53:00 [3] 22.0 km (16:03 / km) +1400m 12:10 / km

Pouakai Circuit in Egmont National Park, plus the Pouakai summit. Stunning scenery but steps. Lots and lots of steps. Lots of roots in the lower forest too made it tough to run. Was more of a walk/run.

Training at Waitarere. Did one of the training sessions from pre-nationals in reverse. The undergrowth in parts was still slow-going as the woody remnants were still quite tall. The thinned areas are definitely unusable now as the contours are screwed and the cutover is ankle-breaking.

First waterfront 5k of the year. Tried not to make the same mistake as my first one last year and go out of the traps too quickly. Ran a steady first 2.5km then picked up the pace in the second half. Nice start to the 5k season, looking forward to beating it.

Red medium at Raumai bombing range (Santoft). A couple of mistakes cost me about 5 minutes, but speed was good and felt quite satisfying once the mistakes were behind me.

Red short at Raumai bombing range. Nice that it used different controls from the medium, actually had more variety and was a little more challenging. Made a mistake by taking the path and not getting the attack point right. 5 minutes lost again.
