Cycling race (CX) 54:09 [5] 9.99 km (11.1 kph) +96m
ahr:179 max:188

Instantly remembered how hard cyclocross is, kind of regretting what I'd got into but got into it later on.

Things that went wrong:
1) Sprint from grid start was dreadful, had wheel spin
2) Shoes slipping on muddy slopes - not much to do about this other than buy new shoes with big front spike (not worth it at this point)
3) Having to stop 5 times to unclog my wheels and chain, about 20s each time. Not really sure I can do a great deal about this, using rim breaks instead of disc meant there's less clearance, and the mud was very clayey so it just got stuck. Can't avoid this unless getting a new bike, something to deal with.
4) Tyre choice, I still have no idea about tyres or pressure for different conditions, should figure this out (even though I only have a choice of less aggressive and more aggressive (what I used for this). - This meant I struggled to get grip when accelerating.
5) Too weak, struggled lifting the bike up as the race went on, due to the weight of mud on my bike. Really should have started lifting bike onto shoulder but I didn't.
6) Wussed out of attempting to jump the barriers

Things that were better:
1) I pushed myself the whole way round
2) My cornering got a little better later on (slipped out on 2 consecutive ones first lap)
3) Nearly nailed a technical section and have a cool photo of it.
4) I legitimately beat someone of a similar ability to me
5) My aldi shorts, cycling shoes, aire top and helmet all fitted a green, black and white colour scheme which made me 10% more aero, unfortunately at such a low average speed this was effectively nothing.
6) Didn't make a fool of myself attempting to jump the barriers
