running (Mourne Highline Race) 1:11:55 [5] 12.52 km (5:45 / km) +787m 4:22 / km
slept:9.0 shoes: Walshs PB Racer

Mourne Highline British Champs Race (Bad Weather Route) - 1:11:55 - 32nd

Definitely the right decision to change the course! Gale force winds and sleet/snow at points made even the alt. course pretty hard going when we got out onto the hill, and the bottom half was super runnable trails so the pace was even more frenetic than it might otherwise have been!

Still, pretty happy with my race in a Brit Champs level field; felt I climbed and descended well, even if I lacked a bit of leg turnover in the final flat stages t the end, and was mixing it with some good runners, so I'm pretty happy. Also my highest placing in a Brit champs field by quite some distance, even with the slightly denuded field.

NB: my watch had some ridiculous amount of ascent for this, yet more evidence that it's on the way out... time for a new one!

running (easy recce/ strides (fell) 1:00:18 [2] 8.65 km (6:58 / km) +721m 4:55 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: Scott Supertrac RC

An easy recce of the final part of the race route (where everyone went wrong last year!), plus some strides. Felt good after travelling and good to stretch the legs.

60' easy with strides before heading to glasgow before heading to belfast...

Felt really good, and psyched for the champs race, even if the forecast is appalling!

running (5km fartlek) 1:15:00 [4] 15.5 km (4:50 / km) +230m 4:30 / km
slept:8.5 shoes: Scott Supertrac RC

25' easy; 5km fartlek (90secs fast/90secs easy); 25' easy

As usual with the fartlek sessions, really enjoyed this one and felt really solid; felt really good to be pushing the pace on some undulating trails too.

NB: my suunto is shitting itself at the moment, typically two days before a race, so times/distances are taken straight off the watch as it won't upload!

90' easy.

Another great day for running; dry bright and not too hot, a perfect afternoon. Legs initially felt a bit stiff after yesterday, pretty unsurprisingly, but after 15-20 mins they eased up, and thereafter felt great, and my energy levels felt really good. Overall feel like I have another solid week under my belt, and feeling really good about the Mourne Brit Champs race next weekend!
