ISLE OF JURA FELL RACE
After last weekend I ran a conservative race today - started mid-pack, stayed relaxed and just focused on going at my own pace.
Felt OK on the ascents and the runnable parts, but on the descents I just couldn't get my legs to turnover/my quads were still wrecked so I was definitely slower on those sections.
Awful conditions with freezing wind and poor visibility in places. I managed to take some decent lines (still had the course in my head from SIPR) though made a weapons-grade error off the last check point by running 180 in the wrong direction for a minute.
Arrived at the road feeling reasonably fresh and so managed a decent clip along to Craighouse. I could feel myself starting to cramp up in the last half mile.
Given the conditions/legs I was delighted with my time. I think that going in to a long race like this with a relaxed attitude is a good idea - I certainly paced it well.
