Orienteering 39:47 [3] 3.41 km (11:40 / km) +180m 9:14 / km
shoes: Salomon S-Lab

STB Stage 5: Sleeping Giant - Lots of climb on this course so I was extra slow saving myself for the 3 hill sprint legs. Ended up doing most of the course with Kieran, Ryan and Ayrton at an easy pace. Legs getting quite sore now. It's surprising how sore and tired some short flat out sprints can make you. Token warmup and warmdown as there was nowhere flat for it.

Orienteering 35:20 [3] 5.16 km (6:51 / km) +20m 6:43 / km
shoes: New Balance 1500

STB Stage 6: The Village - Very hot (30+ degrees) and sore legs. Easy run with Ollie for the first half of the course then on my own for the second. The roads being out of bounds except the crossings made for some interesting route choices. Sprinted the hill and sprint legs again, this time the hill leg was to the last control so I had to continue sprinting to have a fast finish chute time which made it a bit harder. I also felt for the first time of the weekend that I was lacking acceleration for the sprints. Got 1st in the polka-dot singlet competition (hill climb) overall as well as 2nd equal with Ollie in the Green singlet competition (sprint leg). Quite pleased although I would have liked to beat Kieran in the sprint legs, he was just a little bit quicker (and had half as many sprints to focus on).

Orienteering 40:28 [3] 5.16 km (7:51 / km) +40m 7:33 / km
shoes: New Balance 1500

STB Stage 3: Arataki - Again focused on the hill and sprint legs meaning a slow overall time and a couple of mistakes where I wasn't paying attention properly. Wasted a bit too much time waiting with Scott at times along the course. Warmup and down included.

Orienteering 36:21 [3] 6.4 km (5:41 / km) +2m 5:40 / km
shoes: New Balance 1500

STB Stage 4: Fore - Interesting run on a golf course including a 2 person head to head start. Started to feel quite sore from the short bursts of flat out sprinting and so couldn't muster much pace for the actual course, clean run however. Again ran flat out for the hill and sprint legs however I didn't really bother resting or pre-planning the legs much and so was a few seconds slower than I should have been for the sprint leg.

Orienteering 30:30 [3] 5.9 km (5:10 / km) +4m 5:09 / km
shoes: New Balance 1500

STB Stage 1: EIT - Mass start sprint race. Didn't run too hard as I was hesitant as to whether my shin would continue being sore from the previous weekend. No mistakes and aside from the hill climb and sprint singlet legs just ran around at a modest run. Warmup and down included.

Orienteering 38:09 [3] 5.33 km (7:09 / km) +89m 6:36 / km
shoes: New Balance 1500

STB Stage 2: Te Aute College - Focused more on the sprint and hill climb legs for this one so took my time to not tire myself out in the heat. Made a few silly mistakes in the farmland at the start regardless. Warmup and down included.

Orienteering 30:00 [3] 4.5 km (6:40 / km) +35m 6:25 / km
shoes: New Balance 1500

Lonely Mountain Sprint 5 (Relay) + warmup and down. In a team with Lara who mispunched unfortunately however we would have been 13th. My leg was sore before even starting this one and so I struggled a little bit with speed. The race was really hectic with people constantly almost running into each other on corners and leaving controls, and the first pivot after the mass start was just a ball of people trying to punch. Had 2 small mistakes totalling 15s maybe. Most of the time the running was in a pack so navigation wasn't as precise.
