Indoor rock climbing (bouldering) 45:00 [0]
shoes: Burgundy (rock climbing)

Random bouldering session. Made it to the top of one of the reds that I couldn't at class (red holds on yellow wall next to green), and cleared two other new-to-me reds (the other red holds on the other yellow wall, and red holds in cave). Unable to repeat them though, other than the cave one.

Always humbling to huff and puff and fight your way to the top of a new problem, come back down and rest on the mat all pleased with yourself, then a moment later watch the next person come along and float up ever so gracefully and with half the moves! :-) (In case there's any ambiguity there, I'm the huffer-and-puffer, not the floater!)

After a few weeks of daily rolling, the plain blue roller is hardly painful at all now. So, bought a new one... extra firm rumble roller! Yowzers. That's going to take some easing into for sure.

Note

I was very surprised to learn that the knee xrays didn’t show arthritis / boney changes at either knee. I’ll take this as great news, bringing new hope that this ITB issue is resolvable rather than being a new permanent condition caused by degenerative bone changes. ITB aside, I really thought there would be some arthritis within the joint based on occasional minor knee joint tenderness over the years, especially in winter.

Physio #3 today. Homework:

Toe stands, straight up
Reverse lunge, pushing off toes
Squats with short-foot position
"ITB rehab routine" exercises
Wear the physio tape she applied – it should last 5 days
Go for a long hilly walk to see if it gets aggravated
Continue stretches, rolling, and the other things she assigned previously

Indoor rock climbing (class) 30:00 [0]
shoes: Blue (rock climbing)

Went to the Wednesday class this week instead of Tuesday to allow another day of recovering from a cold. Interesting to have a different instructor than normal. This one really emphasized keeping arms straight whenever possible, and “toeing in”. A lot of talking this week, not so much climbing.

Lots of fun new boulders up. Climbed a new “red” but it was way too easy to be a red (white on yellow wall). And made some progress on a couple of other new reds (red on yellow wall, and yellow on white (?) mildly overhanging wall). No top-roping today; too bad because I’m itching to have another go at a couple of particular 5.8s before they get removed.

Can I blame my next orienteering blunder on this...
