Tough day in the woods today. The first few controls went well, but then, had an annoying mistake going to 7, where I ended up at the bottom of a huge hill while the control was at the top... it was a longggggg climb back up. After that I think exhaustion became a factor as my mind just wasn't really into it, at least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Add in the heat/humidity, rocky footing throughout, shoelaces coming undone a hundred times, elastic wrist strap of the SI torn to shreds and being all annoying with strands of elastic dangling all over, right ITB making a whisper of an appearance at 65 minutes, and, and... Well yes I was definitely a mess by the end of the course :D Happy to have made it out of Gatineau in one piece even if my wrist strap did not. Thanks Andrew and Cathy for all your work in putting together some good challenging courses!
Note
Very little running today due to the rocky footing plus heat and low energy. Just a whisper of the right ITB starting at 65 minutes.
During the post-O dog walk, right ITB unhappy going downhill. But ok on stairs at home after.
Left one fine.
ITB clearly going to be an issue at least until the end of O season when I'll take a long break from running/hiking. So, no rogaine in my cards this year. Hope to push through the other meets, but a rogaine would definitely be too long plus too much downhill. Oh well, hopefully next year.
