Orienteering race (LA - Mirabel) 1:26:21 [0] 8.08 km (10:41 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Trail Talon 250
Thanks to Ramblers Orienteering for a fun race out in Mirabel, on their Domaine Vert East map. Much of the forest was nice and runnable, good footing, although that didn't stop me from tripping/falling a handful of times :P
Coming off the summer break, today I had the slowest ever start to a course -- total brain freeze, took forever to remember how to orient the map and to feel comfortable I was going the right way. After that, settled in well. For most of the legs I just took the direct route. Had surprisingly accurate bearings, landing right on a good number of controls. A couple of notable mistakes, but they were relatively minor (for me). Wasn't particularly fast today, but I enjoyed the flow and general success in finding the controls on first attempt.
Note
On the down side, my right ITB became noticeable around 45-50 minutes into the race (just a minor annoyance at that point) and got gradually worse. No go-control sprint for me :( Will stick to the short advanced next time.
Left ITB is totally fine.
