Orienteering race (SA) 1:08:53 [0] 5.73 km (12:01 / km)
spiked:12/12c shoes: Inov-8 Trail Talon 250

Lac Philippe

Another surprisingly warm, humid day...

Typical o-outing today, some decent legs, some not. 9 was my worst, not sure what happened but looking at the gps track it turns out I was nowhere near where I thought I was. Would like a re-do on that one please! Some other not great legs too where I overshot and needed to backtrack, or looked in the wrong place, leapfrogging and losing time compared to several much more accurate orienteers who were at more of a walking pace.

Loved the open forest -- what a change from last weekend!

Today's short short left me hungry for more exercise, so went for a run after. Separate note.

Running (trail) 30:06 [0] 5.0 km (6:01 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Trail Talon 250

So after a shortish o-outing this morning, decided to go for a run. Figured it was time to get serious and crank my running distance up. Way up.

So, today I ran a half! In fact, I ran two of them, with a mere one or two minutes rest in between!

Yessirree, that's right. I ran two halves -- of a 5k ;) Today's 2.5 km is my longest continuous running distance so far. Sounds so puny... but sheesh I sure was toast by the end of the second one.

Out and back on the rolling forest trails and path-side grass from the end of Champlain in Orleans.

1st 2.5 km = 14:42, 5:50/km
2nd 2.5 km = 15:24, 6:08/km

Running (afternoon commute) 46:05 [0] 8.6 km (5:22 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-Zaraca 4

Went for a quieter route today, which added some kilometres but also the benefit of fewer forced stops. Well, still needed to take a few walking breaks (as needed rather than dictated by run/walk watch setting which I haven't used in a while). But, seem to be gradually developing more stamina, slowwwly but surely...

Watch declared these new pbs, which of course were in the first third of the commute:
- fastest km: 4 minutes 54 sec
- fastest mile: 7 minutes 56 sec

Perfect weather. 18 degrees, cloudy, no humidex. Really not sure if I'll find the oomph to keep going in sub-zero temperatures, but for now enjoying it.

Stats exclude short walking warmup and time stopped waiting to cross roads.

Running (afternoon commute) 31:19 [0] 5.83 km (5:22 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-Zaraca 4

Woo, first commute on foot!

Not sure why but I always thought work was a lot farther than it is. Turns out it's a measly 6.5 kms away! 1.5 km of which I already walk to/from the bus! So, decided to give it a try today.

Totally doable, though a little noisy/headache-inducing with all the traffic / arterial roads. If I keep up with this (2-3 times a week maybe), would consider looking for quieter route options even if they're longer.

Distance/time stats excluded walking warmup and time waiting at the many red lights.

23 degrees, clear, no humidex.
