Orienteering race (ROGAINE) 2:55:40 [3] 14.53 km (12:05 / km)
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3

3-hour ROGAINE at Vorlage/Wakefield. Gorgeous, summery day with sunshine and dry conditions in the woods. Francis and I orienteered a record total of 1008 points over 17 controls visited. Made some effiecient route choices as well as some not-so-efficient ones on both sides. Got stuck on one control for a bit longer than planned, and I had a major wipe-out on the gravelly down-grade road towards the last leg of our course. Some bloody road-rash mementos, bruising on left shoulder, knee, and thigh and - the worse part - a badly pulled-torn ligament on the right big toe. So, I'm hobbling about and relied on Tylenol to get me through the night.

It was all worth it, as I was smiling for most of the adventure and enjoyed those three hours with Francis as we worked together and accomplished a very respectable feat. We narrowly missed coming in third in our category, and could have captured one more control to bump up our score, but I was bagged at the end with my poor toe. Hey, all the "kids" who came in the top three were pretty much half our age, so we did damn well!

Big thank yous to Randy and Linda and all volunteers for their incredible teamwork in putting together yet another awesome ROGAINE, and huggy thanks to Francis for putting up with my short legs!

Running 44:32 [3] 7.7 km (5:47 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-Kayano 22

Great run along the river after a day dealing with crazy people LR&C.
Went up to the 7km turn-around and back. Gorgeous early fall sunset and fresh breeze clearing my mind on the way back. Legs felt good; my energy's back - woohoo!
