6 AM

Running 43:15 [3] 9.67 km (4:28 / km) +25m 4:25 / km
ahr:146 max:163

Morning run with Jordan (tempo for me). Very happy I got out to do this. Just what I needed. Everything seems Ok. Calf is good, knee is the usual. Good catch up, although now he's planted a seed for Georgia which I don't need right now.

Running 23:35 [3] 5.32 km (4:26 / km) +18m 4:21 / km

Note

Never watch The Nutcracker and The Four Realms. I'd have preferred to gargle diarrhea.
6 PM

Running 30:47 [3] 6.47 km (4:46 / km)
ahr:156 max:167

Supposed to be easy. It wasn't. I feel like I've eaten Santa. HR through the roof. Struggling with Jordan in the morning. Which will be a race/tempo run (for me!). Ultimately I need to get out and start getting serious.
Weather is tremendous here.

Note
(rest day)

Terrible travel day. Planned on getting a run in but got back over 6 hours late after two planes had technical issues at Newark.

Note

Niels sent me some route choice training. Not had chance to look in depth but this looks really interesting.
11 AM

Running 1:01:14 [3] 12.24 km (5:00 / km) +68m 4:52 / km
ahr:139 max:159

Central Park and back. Bitterly cold -4C with a rascal of a wind off The Hudson. Had to deal with the throng leaving Macy's Thanksgiving parade. Once I hit Central Park it was fantastic. What a cracking place. Cruised back nicely. People here are really friendly generally. When they talk to each other it's like they're constantly arguing but I think that's just the norm. Travel day tomorrow.

Orienteering 2:03:08 [3] 9.74 km (12:38 / km) +336m 10:47 / km
ahr:110 max:164

Geof Conner picked me up and I spent a great 2 hours running with Guru Niels at Mt.Lakes. NY. Learnt a ton about what's actually going on in the planners mind on the course (also interesting to know how Niels trains/operates).
Technically my ability is laughable. So bad I'm thinking of being the Anti-Niels. He confessed he's a map/terrain snob. Rather than trying to get better/learn/compete on technical areas maybe I should only run on working/commercial woodland where I'm guaranteed paths, rides, roads......massive line features! And I'm being serious. I only feel comfortable on British terrain. Anything Scandinavian and I'm sweating like a fat lass in a Burger King.
Apart from having a really good day out. My calf held out. Just.
I think I'm going to start getting ready for next year....for real.
3 PM

Running 16:23 [3] 2.98 km (5:30 / km) +6m 5:26 / km
ahr:140 max:170

Easy through the melee from Grand Central to A.M's. Calf started to bother on the tarmac.
