Overall was a super fun but crazy and exhausting day. Definitely struggled as it went on, but at least I could still focus on Navigation.

Easy 40 minute run to Mt Albert and back with Thomas.
Legs felt like Jelly for the second half of it and it was still pretty warm.

Running long (Easy paced 80 minutes) 1:23:13 [4] 14.02 km (5:56 / km) +240m 5:28 / km

Easy 80 minutes in the middle of the day.
Training the body for running in higher temperatures.
Got a stitch at about the 10 - 11 km mark
Left knee a little sore after about 9 km
Definitely struggled with the heat but managed to push through to the finish.

Warm up and Warm down around the roads at a really easy pace, followed by Intervals around the trails.
6 x 3 minutes effort, uphill/downhill/trail, with 2 minutes easy jog/rest in between.
Jess joined me for the session which provided some more motivation to keep going up the hills and put a bit more effort in to each one.

Paces for each 3 minute effort:
1. 4:28 (grass, uphill)
2. 5:09 (trail)
3. 5:26 (uphill, trail)
4. 4:49 (downhill, grass. uphill, trail.)
5. 5:51 (uphill, trail + stairs)
6. 5:02 (uphill, grass)

Session felt much better than last week, possibly because there was a slight breeze for some of it.

Monday Jan 8, 2018 #

Running hills (Mt Eden hill reps) 55:54 [4] 8.45 km (6:37 / km) +520m 5:04 / km
ahr:159 max:185 rhr:52 slept:7.3

5 reps of Mt Eden, mixing up between road (long/gradual and short/steep) and terrain/trails.
Slower but continuous.
Felt quite bad after the first one, I may have pushed a bit hard to start with, but felt better as I got into it.
Had a slight pain below my left knee which I think was from running 90 minutes on soft sand yesterday.
