Orienteering race 1:48:52 [5] 7.7 km (14:08 / km) +225m 12:20 / km
Not sure what I did to be able to enjoy two new locations for local meets, but I'm happy for it;-)
Red at Alasa Farms.
Took the time out of the start to look at the map a bit, splits suggest I was slow on the leg, but I'm ok with that. worked my way to 1 patiently, and that was a good start.
of note...
4 is noted as slow, but I had a good plan and thought I followed it well.
5 is a #1 split! Maybe because I was in control on 4, I had extra energy to execute that plan well.
9 was a little slow. I was iffy on the end, and needed to figure out the reentrant.
12 was also slow. I ended up left of the re-entrant looking down at one to my left, and realized I was on the wrong side of that plateau.
14 was a #2 split. I had decided a trail route to the left gave me a good attack from the creek crossing. (and I guess it did)
And all the other legs were just solid effort. I was half an hour behind a Greg S, but just 10 minutes behind Rob which is reasonable.
i think that approval and mapping effort was definitely worth it. (plus there's farm animals to see;-)
