Orienteering race 1:36:27 [5] *** 7.7 km (12:32 / km) +380m 10:03 / km
spiked:22/27c shoes: Nike Air Terra Humara

Enjoyed the very nice course in Durand up and down the hills. I noted that while we ran the same sections multiple times, it was always a new angle across that stretch. (and didn't make the hills any easier)

Felt good about the whole race except around 14. I had come down the pond to 14 and reversed course thinking I had turned it into a dog leg, but realized when I got back to about 17 that that wasn't the next control;-) Corrected back to 15 properly, but that's got to be a 3 minute error and an extra hill climb because I was angry about it. (and ran up the hill and down the road instead of back to 14 again which would have "hurt" more) Checked my watch - my 40-50 minute error... (that is, it's the time frame in which I'm currently making an error. Moved out from 20-30 minutes last year as my conditioning improves)

Believed I was making "good" decisions and route choices, using the trails, roads, and open areas as well as I could. Have to give my hill training kudos - 4 weeks ago the hills would have killed me more, and while I felt it (and stopped running them) half way through mango 2, I still was able to find a bit of energy to run up a gentle trail I found to 8.

It'll be interesting to see split comparisons.

Morning Run (sprints) 23:00 [4]
shoes: Nike Air Terra Humara

Ran over to the nice little park at Embury / Scribner and ran some sprints...

Found a marked lacrosse field 70 meters across and ran sprints with a minute in between each. Took a last break of two minutes while a bit of rain passed and then ran one more down and back. The times go up and down based on the direction - running North is downhill slightly, South uphill. Must be interesting to have a game on that field...-)
