Running - Trail / Grass warm up/down (trail) 8:00 [2] 0.89 mi (9:00 / mi) +30m 8:09 / mi
shoes: VJ Twister (US size 10.5) - 3

I took my warm up run to the start before day 1 of Northwest Forest Frenzy at Cle Elum Ridge. I felt sort of tired.

Orienteering race (classic distance) 1:23:23 intensity: (38:23 @2) + (45:00 @3) *** 11.9 km (7:00 / km) +650m 5:30 / km
20c (sick) shoes: VJ Twister (US size 10.5) - 3

I ran the NWFF day 1 blue course at Cle Elum Ridge. I felt mentally and physically tired starting pretty early in the course, and it just got worse. By about 60% of the way through I was bored and hot and very tired and felt like quitting, and I decided I needed a rest day and would almost certainly not run on Sunday, which was disappointing, since I had been looking forward to this event. I tried to keep pushing hard and focusing, anyway.

I had a few mistakes, but not many. To my amazement, I won the course, coming in over 6.5 minutes ahead of Brian May. The climb is a guess, based on having done 500 meters of climb when my watch memory filled up at 51 minutes into the run. It was certainly hilly.

Cycling (mtb road) 24:30 [1] 4.5 mi (5:27 / mi) +100m 5:06 / mi
ahr:115 slept:6.8 (sick) shoes: Nike ACG cycling shoes

I rode home from the shop, where I dropped off the car to be serviced.

I was still very congested this morning, and I'm still coughing and sneezing today, but my throat feels somewhat less sore than it did last night, and yesterday's short spell of labyrinthitis hasn't recurred.

Note
slept:6.4 (sick)

I had a short spell of labyrinthitis (disequilibrium and eyes moving rapidly side-to-side) this afternoon, and in the evening, my throat felt almost as sore as it did at the beginning of my illness. So, overall, it doesn't seem like I'm getting any better.

Cycling (mtb road) 21:30 intensity: (15:00 @1) + (6:30 @2) 4.5 mi (4:47 / mi) +70m 4:33 / mi
ahr:114 max:144 shoes: Nike ACG cycling shoes

I rode from home to pick up the car at Daisywagen. I felt fairly good, although I was taking my life in my hands to ride on Lake City Way at rush hour.

One woman honked at me repeatedly then gunned her engine and passed me too close for comfort. I pulled up beside her (and her poodle in the passenger seat) when she was stopped at a long light and asked if she was aware that bicycles are entitled to occupy a lane. She was angry and embarassed, of course, and snapped, "not riding down the middle of the road during rush hour!"

Note
slept:8.8 (sick) (rest day)

More mapping. I felt a little better yesterday morning but feel worse again this morning. I guess I must have West Nile Rocky Mtn. Lime Bird Mono Encephalitis Virus.
