Cross-country skiing (Skate) 1:07:19 [2] 6.62 km (10:10 / km) +104m 9:26 / km
ahr:124 max:169

A few of us were supposed to be going to Whistler, but changed plans after hearing how bad the snow was. The others bailed completely, but Carla and I went skate skiing at Cypress instead. It was her second time, so I did the whole think without poles to make the speeds a little more similar. I actually really liked it, and even managed to do the uphills without poles. It really allowed me to concentrate on the glide, and I felt far more graceful than normal.

Other (Curling) 1:45:00 [0]
ahr:103 max:160

I've been curling for the last couple of winters, and decided to track my heart rate tonight to see how much effort it is to sweep. When I have to sweep really hard I get into zone 4, but obviously not for very long. Between rocks I rarely get back down to a full resting rate, and tend to be in zone 1 as I'm sliding about the ice figuring out angles etc.

This evening was mixed doubles, so I have to hop up and sweep my own rocks (16 per game). On Monday nights I play as skip on a team of 4, and then I'm doing even less sweeping. The closest curling ever comes to feeling like a workout is during practice, when I can get through 60 rocks in an hour. It does seem to help with my hip flexors though, and is way more enjoyable than yoga...

Enjoyable WET at Hume Park. It's a little place, so John planned 5 loops. It's also a steep place, so we were going up and down the embankment a lot. My legs were not happy doing hill 2 days in a row!
