Awesome WET at Deep Cove, planned by Leif. Really good course, with lots of decisions to make (though perhaps too many of the decisions were "run on the trail/road"). I did well reading ahead, and pretty much always had a plan. Until the last few controls. It seems like my concentration wanders after 35-40 minutes, as that's when I started making mistakes at the Pig War too. Must work on that!

Took it relatively steady, and legs felt okay while running. Niggles all over the place this morning, so will rest until Sage Stomp.

Swimming 35:00 [2]

25 lengths breaststroke, then aqua running. Didn't drown. Great success.

Setup and collection for OAK (walking). Jogged during the training exercises, and leg felt okay. Will rest for a couple more days before running properly again.

Wildlife seen this session: geese, goslings, ducks, ducklings, rabbits and beaver. A beaver! It was just chilling on the trail, and was so unperturbed by people that we thought it might be injured. But it had toddled off by the time I collected in the controls, so I assume it was okay. Probably just mistook the trail for the lake due to the absurd rain we had!

My left IT band wasn't feeling good, so I dropped down from the 3 hour course to the 1 hour course, and just walked it. Very happy that I had a plan, and executed it well. Everything just lined up perfectly, and I did well reading the subtle contours. The forest is runnable, but still dense enough that you have to navigate to controls rather than seeing them from miles away. Really good fun, despite the slow pace.

Fingers crossed I recover in time for Sage Stomp!
