One of my running group friends did the
Yeti Ultra 24-Hour Challenge on Friday: a 5.2-mile run every four hours for 24 hours, for a total of 31 miles / 50 K.
Since the Greenland 25K / 50K has been postponed from next weekend to sometime in August, I think I might try the Yeti Challenge later this week (I have plenty of PTO days to use, since most of my remaining 2020 O-trips have been cancelled...).
So I tested out a 5.2-mile loop: from home up to Davidson Mesa, outer loop on the mesa, and then back home.
I walked the first mile (which is mostly uphill) because my calves were incredibly tight & sore from yesterday's hill workout, and walking that uphill mile is most likely what I'd do for all or most laps of the Yeti challenge.
And then a couple hours of "yard" work. I'm always amazed at how much time such a small area requires. I swept up all the dead leaves that have blown in over the winter, got rid of some dead plants, and put new sand filler in the paver crevices (that process required lots of sweeping -- which was difficult with today's blustery wind).
