Orienteering race 34:37 [3] 1.89 mi (18:19 / mi)
shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2017-Turq)

Pre-Possum Long Sprint @ Knob Noster State Park.

I planned to take it easy, saving up for the main event tomorrow, so I mostly walked or jogged (no aggressive running whatsoever).

When I left #3, I thought I was going from #4 to #5 -- and also somehow managed to make a 180-degree error? I corrected before going too far.

I could have aimed off a lot less to hit the trail to #8.

On my way from #9 to #10, I deviated around the green slash (the thorns were really bad), and ended up missing off to the right.

Orienteering race 26:09 [3] 1.34 mi (19:31 / mi)
shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2017-Turq)

Pre-Possum Short Sprint @ Knob Noster State Park.

I walked & jogged at a casual pace again, but I still managed to have an inefficient banana route to #4 and I second-guessed myself on the way to #5.

Fantastic weather and fun courses today. :-)

Weekly Runner's Roost group run -- up McCaslin, two loops around Harper Lake, and then back down McCaslin. It was a very pleasant, mild night (long sleeves but no jacket), with a huge moon rising and reflecting off the lake.

"Beware The Bear" trail race -- stage 1.

I brought along gloves, arm warmers, and a jacket, just in case. What I should have brought was shorts and a tank top for the amazingly warm & sunny weather (which was especially nice considering how bitterly cold & snowy it was two weeks ago on the original race date).

My stomach was unhappy the whole time, and I also felt like I should hold back for stage 2.

5 km:
2 / 9 age group
7 / 21 female
14 / 35 overall

2017 -- 30:36
2018 -- N/A
2019 -- 31:35

Run / Hike race 1:34:09 [3] 8.91 mi (10:34 / mi) +643ft 9:53 / mi
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2019)

"Beware The Bear" trail race -- stage 2.

The start went down a steep-ish & uneven asphalt road with lots of loose gravel, so I was dead-last getting onto the singletrack. But I picked off and passed some people throughout the two-loop course -- often on the uphill sections when they would start walking and I managed to keep running (very slowly, with tiny steps, but still "running"). :-P

Over the last mile, I tried to catch a woman I could see way out ahead of me. I caught up but couldn't pass her...so she ended up 3rd in our AG (but she hadn't done the 5K).

Thankfully my stomach settled down after the 5K and didn't distract me at all during this stage. Also, I didn't have any foot / toe hot-spots until just the last couple of miles.

Only 10 of us did both stages (the "double bear"), and I was 9th in that group.

14.25 km:
4 / 7 age group
11 / 20 female
30 / 43 overall

2017 -- 1:28:55
2018 -- 1:28:15 (no 5K)
2019 -- 1:34:09 (older & heavier...) :-P
