Run / Hike 48:29 [3] 3.17 mi (15:18 / mi) +444ft 13:30 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2019)

Pre-brunch run at a park near my hotel.

The trails were not well marked at all, but it was scenic and I managed to eke out three+ miles (mostly running, with some walking when I was trying to figure out where to go).

Run / Hike 22:57 [3] 1.41 mi (16:17 / mi)
slept:7.0 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2019)

On my way back to Alabama for a funeral... :-|

I had some time before my flight, so I did a lap around the entire length of Concourse B.

(Mainly because Runners Roost has a "streaker challenge" for January -- must walk or run at least one mile per day.)

7 PM

Run / Hike 5:53 [3] 0.41 mi (14:21 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2019)

I jogged from gate to gate at ORD so that I'd have time for this purchase on the way:

Run / Hike race 27:03 [3] 3.1 mi (8:44 / mi) +34ft 8:38 / mi
slept:8.0 weight:118.3lbs shoes: Saucony Peregrine (2018)

Resolute Runner 5K race. I didn't think it could possibly be colder than last year's race, but it was: 10°F at the start. But at least it was sunny and not windy.

I didn't feel especially strong and the entire course was snow-packed -- so it was like running on slippery beach sand the whole time. It was also hard to toe-off b/c my toes were numb.

After yesterday's incredibly painful frozen-finger-thawing experience, I knew I'd need to stuff heat packets into my mittens today. That made a huge difference.

So, except for my toes and thumbs, I was comfortably layered.

I was initially THRILLED to find out I was 1st out of 56 in my age group. I found out later that another woman in our group (who's much faster than me) was actually 1st, but there had been a mix-up with her bib number. I'm still pretty happy with 2nd out of 56.

Race bib = free chips & salsa and 99¢ margaritas with the LoCOfit crew afterwards -- and then New Year's Day lunch with some of the same people in the afternoon.

Run / Hike 25:55 [3] 2.2 mi (11:47 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:118.6lbs shoes: TNF Ultra Winter

Freezing, snowy "run" (very slow).

I had planned to walk, but conditions were so miserable that I just wanted to get it over with. Even with my new mittens, my fingers were painfully cold. The thawing-out process after I got home was even more painful.

Back home as of last night, back to my normal routine...

From home, up to Harper Lake (one lap around), one lap around Davidson Mesa, and then back home.

Nice weather -- 50°F, mostly sunny, minimal wind.
