I was awake (trying to fall asleep) until ~3am, so I didn't get up early for the LoCOfit breakfast run (which I would have just walked or ridden my bike due to foot pain). And then it was roasting hot by the time I finally got up and got going, so it was just a day of errands.

Lunch-hour deep water aerobics at the local outdoor pool! It felt like an hour of summer camp, since it was a beautiful, hot, sunny day.

The class participants were about what I expected (11 women, one man -- husband of the instructor -- with conversations about grandkids and cruises...). ;-) BUT, it was much more challenging that I expected -- I was breathing hard, and I'm feeling an all-over tiredness right now. It seemed like you could make it as easy or as challenging as you wanted. And it was kinda fun.

I will go back (especially if my foot continues to hurt -- achilles pain is easing off, but outer-foot pain is getting worse to the point where I'm worried it could be a stress fracture).

I was supposed to do a progression run with the group today, with permission to go at a slow post-race pace. But...my left achilles and left outer foot started to really ache yesterday, so I just walked. :-\

Boulder Backroads Half Marathon

I was not pushing myself today; I was in "I'll just be happy to finish" mode.

Given that I was feeling physically worn down and unexcited about this race for all of last week...I guess I'm satisfied with a sub-10:00 overall pace. For my next half, I'll behave better the day prior and go in with a specific goal (maybe sub-2:00:00?).

We started at 7:15 am at the Boulder Reservoir and did a big loop on mostly dirt roads north and east of the res. Other people complained about the heat, but it didn't seem especially hot to me. My stomach seized up in the 11th mile, so I slowed way down and then walked for a while. A few of my LoCO friends passed me there, but I eventually caught and passed them in the last mile.

I was impressed with myself for catching and passing Carol near the end -- until I heard that she had done an extra seven miles before the race. Yowza...

Fun lunch at the Rio afterwards.

Results are posted, and I was 8th out of 35 in F45-49. I would've had to cut ~21 minutes off my time to break into the top three (not gonna happen!), so I guess I'm OK with my place. ;-)
