It was pouring rain for last ~20 minutes of my drive to the Buena Vista meet site -- if I had had a cell signal as I was driving, I would have booked a hotel room. :-\

Luckily the rain let up and was just a light sprinkle as I was setting up my tent. Then it cleared up completely for the rest of the night -- so camping wasn't totally miserable after all.

I was the first starter on the Long course. I woke up the first couple of controls and really never had anyone in close proximity to me.

For #1, I contoured around and then used the narrow reentrant as a handrail. #2-3-4-5-6 -- straight line, no disasters, yay! Got really confused as I was heading to #7 -- I could see some camp sites ("why am I so close to the road?") and lost track of my pace count; eventually found #7 without too much of a disaster.

Dumb route choice to #8 (should have just followed the reentrant down), and then I left the road way too early; luckily I noticed the pit (under my track) and relocated.

For #9, I should have just gone straight-line up the easy, open slope, but I was tempted by the trail.

#10-11-12 -- straight line.

Prep work for this weekend's meets at Buena Vista -- OE2010 files, start cards, etc. Two sets of everything, since we have two separate meets (Night-O on Saturday and regular meet on Sunday). Lots of email follow-ups (late registration requests, entry clarifications, etc.). Data entry for memberships & waivers.

* Ran from Community Park to the Aquarius trailhead to warm up.

* ~50 minutes (3.5 laps) of "up & overs".

* Walked back to the park.

I didn't push for speed on the uphills (like we were supposed to) since I have two hilly O-races in Buena Vista this weekend, and I want to be more recovered for that than I was for the Fox Run meet last weekend...

Runners Roost group run, this time at Gravity / Gastronauts (one of my favorite places). I did my own thing (easy three-mile run) and then had beer & fried snacks with everybody afterwards -- "Rood Dwarf" pomegranate wit beer, buffalo cauliflower, and crispy broccoli with sriracha aioli. So good...

The main event was a "beer mile" race -- but I was certainly not up for that after last night's mile repeats (nor would I have wanted to drink four full beers...).

- Walked & ran ~one mile to the Daughenbaugh trailhead to warm up.

- Mile repeats "at a repeatable 5K pace", with a few minutes of walking recovery after each mile. My assignment was to do 4 or 5, and of course I wanted to stop after the fourth one. Erin prodded me to do the fifth, and I was glad I did. 8:23, 8:26, 8:27, 8:39, 8:32

- Walked & ran ~one mile back home.

This was supposed to be 10 miles with some hills and I left home with that as my plan, but my glutes were very sore (yesterday's hills?) and it was SO HOT (since I got started at the crack of noon...). Ran 7.25 (mostly flat), walked the rest.

- Uploaded photos to FB & Flickr (for embedding in emails).
- Uploaded splits.
- Uploaded overall results.
- Data entry for volunteer list.
- Added results link to FB post.

Buena Vista prep work:

- Posted web page updates from Amy (highway detour, dirt road conditions, fire ban, etc.).
- Created volunteer sign-up page and added link.
- Located old photos and created FB post.

Located and experimented with some free "responsive" email templates to accommodate different device / screen sizes; eventually decided to stick to my current (very tedious) process. Sent out update email to RMOC list & RMSG participants.
