I think this was only my second time in 10+ years making it to the Saturday morning group run + breakfast. (8am is excruciatingly early for me to be somewhere, especially on a weekend...) ;-)

From Paul's Coffee -- out Dyer Road to the Hwy 36 bike path, up to Davidson Mesa, one loop around the mesa, and then back the same way via bike path & Dyer Rd.

Mildly chilly but sunny. Very fun!

Afternoon plans: arm-knitting class and Rice movie club outing (Molly's Game).

AMAZING 60-degree weather -- sunny & no wind.

- Ran ~one mile to warm up.

- Mile repeats x 3, with 2-3 minutes of walking recovery in between. Felt borderline nauseous on the last one... 8:31, 8:33, 8:19

Arctic Prairie Dog 10k race in Louisville.

It was chilly but sunny and not exactly "arctic" (thankfully). For once, I had the right layering for the whole race.

I started near the front of the pack and, maybe due to the cold air and not having to bob-and-weave through the crowd, was able to maintain a faster-than-usual pace for most of the race (even on the long, crappy hill up to the turnaround point at the rec center).

For the last three miles, I tried to reel-in two women not far ahead of me who looked like they could be in my same age group; I would catch them but then they'd pull ahead. I kind of faded in the last mile, and they pulled away for good. Turns out one of them was a 20-something, and the other was in my age group.

But...hey, wow, I got 2nd place! :-)
