Orienteering race (Blue course) 2:22:03 [3] 7.89 mi (18:00 / mi) +614ft 16:46 / mi
slept:6.0 shoes: Salomon Speedcross (2014)

LROC Rocky Mountain Goat course at Remarkable Flats.

I started a few minutes late (had to lock my car, adjust my hydration pack, etc.), but I was happy to pass a few people once I got into the course.

I crossed the wrong rocky ridge on my way to #6 and ended up too far left. Luckily, maprunner and Nelson were in the right area, and I spotted them.

I think I could have taken a more efficient route to #8, if I had run through the saddle west of my track.

Could have been more straight-line, with slightly less elevation gain, on the way to #16.

Otherwise, I am very happy with this run! Many thanks to Swampfox for setting up this training event.

Run / Hike race 1:59:48 [3] 10.18 mi (11:46 / mi) +528ft 11:13 / mi
slept:5.5 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2015)

I haven't been running more than once a week lately...and I got to bed at midnight after dinner (and wine) with some college friends yesterday. So I definitely did NOT want to get up at 5:30 am this morning for the Coal Creek Classic 10-miler that I registered for many months ago (when I thought I'd have time to actually train). I snoozed my alarm once but then got up; came very close to switching to the 5 km race at the packet pick-up table; but then eventually started the 10-mile course. I was very slow (third from last, I think), but I eked it out in just under two hours. Perfect weather (slightly overcast) and lots of nice early-morning nature noises along the path. I heard a prairie dog "cheer" for me. :-)
