Orienteering race 2:40:02 [3] 6.11 mi (26:12 / mi) +915ft 22:56 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2013)

I should have paid attention to the climb before opting to do the Long course... I followed the entire pack's wide route to #1, but from #5 onward, I was totally on my own.

On top of being physically spent, I also wasted a ridiculous amount of time looking for #14 (never found it). I headed back to the start / finish when I realized I was over the time limit. Blah.

Administration (A-Meet) 3:00:00 [0]

Web additions and finalized email update to all A-Meet participants (checked for errors / typos, re-checked, re-re-checked, triple-checked all links, etc.).

Visited FedExOffice to talk about glossy brochure printing & folding options.

A few final brochure tweaks, then sent off brochure to FedExOffice; picked up final brochures for delivery to Laramie.

I'm happy with the brochure, except that I realized (after they had all been printed) it doesn't say "Rocky Mountain Orienteering Club" anywhere on it (except in the website URL). DOH!

Run / Hike race 2:30:28 [3] 13.11 mi (11:29 / mi) +400ft 11:09 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2014)

Prairie Dog Half Marathon in Castle Rock.

If I remember correctly, this was about seven minutes slower than the half I did last September -- but not as slow as I was expecting to be (~2:45).

The course was entirely along a bike path, along Plum Creek. It's always nice to not share the road with cars and their exhaust...but also nice to occasionally hear the birdsongs, etc.

The course had lots of short, steep hills, including a few in the last mile when I was pushing to hold off another runner who was not too far behind me -- oof!

But the weather was perfect (60s) and it was fun overall -- and, of course, I love all the prairie dog tchotchkes that come with this race series. ;-)
