I rode the "Dirty Bismarck" loop from my house. (J-J will probably recognize that reference...)

It's a mostly-trail version of the Morgul-Bismark road loop, and I think I did it in the opposite direction: (home to bike path to Coal Creek Trail to) Singletree Trail to Marshall Rd to 66th St to Cowdrey Draw Trail to Community Ditch Trail to Greenbelt Plateau Trail to High Plains Trail to Coalton Trail to McCaslin Rd (back to Coal Creek Trail and home).

It's 99% non-technical. I attempted the one technical section and failed in a semi-spectacular fashion (keeling over sideways and backwards and scraping my leg...). There are several variations that could add either a little or a lot of additional mileage. There are also plans to add the final trail connector sometime in 2009, so that it's 100% trail (avoiding the road stretch between Singletree and Cowdrey Draw).

It was super fun! But now I'm going to be late to the baby shower I have to attend this afternoon...and I've probably trashed my legs for tomorrow's three Sprints at Chatfield.

Cycling tempo 35:00 [3] 6.68 mi (5:14 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:124lbs

Bike to work.

I finally tried another route I've had my eye on for a while -- a connector from StorageTek's jogging trail, to an underpass, to the FlatIrons Mall bike path.

I've always assumed I'd have to hop a fence and carry my bike for about 50 feet. But, it turns out the fence is gone in that spot, and a small social trail has already appeared.

I liked this option, because it helps me avoid the two long lights at Northwest Parkway and Industrial Lane. But, then I got snarled up at multiple intersections in the shopping center. I need to find a more efficient route through or around the shopping center.

Cycling tempo 36:53 [3] 6.94 mi (5:19 / mi)

Bike home from work. I sorted out the best route through the shopping center, with just one wrong turn in the process.

The route has one short, very steep hill (on dirt), and a longer moderate hill on gravel. It'll be fun going down these sections in the morning, and I'll try to use the same route on the way home (for a tougher workout) if there's enough light. (These sections aren't along roads, so there aren't any street lights.)

Note

I'm heading out to see The Order of Myths in Denver, a film by one of my high school friends.

Soccer intervals (indoor) 33:00 [3]
slept:8.0 weight:124lbs

I took the last session off, but now indoor soccer has started up again.

I got updates on some of the interpersonal drama I missed during the last season, and we came SO close to winning. But, we ending up losing 7-6. I expected to be sucking wind, since I haven't been running much (at all) lately; but, I felt fine. Maybe my bike-commutes make up for lack of running.

I like the make-up of the team. I think this'll be a good season.
