Note
slept:6.0

Travel day. We got a late start (so I could take care of RMOC web updates for upcoming meets), so we only made it as far as Grand Junction. "Rock Jam" was in town. Who could have predicted that acts like Poison, Joan Jett, and Jefferson Starship could sell out EVERY hotel room in town? We finally found a room at the seventh or eighth place we tried.

SQL Success! (One line item for each entry, rather than duplicates for people who register for multiple courses; requested map quantities are displayed in each cell; column headers are dynamically-generated based on the courses to be offered at each meet.) And it's only 1 am this time... ;-)

Cycling tempo 34:02 [3] 6.4 mi (5:19 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:125lbs

I stayed up 'til 2am trying to perfect a SQL query to generate registration cross-tabs for the RMOC web site. As a result, I slept through this morning's group run...

But I did manage to bike to work.

Cycling 20:05 [3] 3.14 mi (6:24 / mi)

Out for lunch and back.

Cycling tempo 34:43 [3] 6.47 mi (5:22 / mi)

Bike home from work. I spotted a fox in the greenbelt near my house.

I like the cooler weather this week, but the shorter days are kinda depressing... Off the top of my head, I think the only federal policy accomplishment from the past eight years that I'm really happy about is: the extension of DST by four weeks.

Run / Hike (Summer Training) 35:20 [3] 3.16 mi (11:11 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:122lbs

Today we just did an easy three-mile recovery run, with four sets of strides mixed in.

Saw two coyotes, one small and one fat.

Strength / Stretching warm up/down 5:00 [3]

Stretching afterwards.

Cycling tempo 35:41 [3] 6.4 mi (5:35 / mi)

Bike to work. Brrr -- it was chilly and windy.

Cycling tempo 34:05 [3] 6.49 mi (5:15 / mi)

Bike home.

Cycling warm up/down 6:34 [3] 1.48 mi (4:26 / mi)
slept:5.0 weight:122lbs

Bike to the race location.

Run / Hike warm up/down 10:03 [3] 1.0 mi (10:03 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Grid Omni TR

Jog a couple laps around the park (one mile) to warm up.

Run / Hike race 27:56 [3] 3.12 mi (8:57 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Grid Omni TR

5 km "Coal Creek Crossing" race (mostly trails). Splits were 8:47, 9:04, 8:59, 1:05.

Judging my effort and exertion on a scale of one to ten, I was at about a six. I felt slow, but I guess this was about the same result as my previous 5 km efforts in the training group -- 27:47 on 5/1 and 28:37 on 8/19. Ho hum.

Results

64 / 206 overall
18 / 107 women
9 / 27 age 30-39 women

Note

Troy and I got up so early for the race that we're not really sure what to do for the rest of the day. We're heading out to see "Tropic Thunder" in about an hour... And then I hope I can convince him to help me work on my "yard". ;-)

Update: Tropic Thunder was funny for the first 20 minutes or so, and then incredibly dull. I think I despise Tom Cruise slightly less now after seeing this movie, and I learned an entertaining new acronym ("ASAFP!").

Run / Hike tempo 1:10:00 [3] 3.12 mi (22:26 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Grid Omni TR

Troy and I walked with Coco, to and from downtown Louisville, to buy concert tickets for tomorrow night.
