Orienteering race (Red course) 2:43:46 [3] 4.52 mi (36:14 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:122lbs

This activity started out as an orienteering course but, after I gave up in frustration, it ended as just a trail run to get back to the Start / Finish.

The control placements were ridiculous -- very low to the ground and sometimes concealed by brush. Their accuracy was also questionable.

Only TWO people actually finished the Red course, so I don't feel that bad about giving up. Even Sverre and Plamen DNF'd... I'm curious to hear Ratlaf's impressions, if he was there.

The weather and scenery were great, at least. Mike, Troy and I stuffed ourselves with good I-talian food afterwards.

Soccer intervals (outdoor) 1:00:00 [3]
slept:8.0 weight:122lbs

I finally made it back out to lunchtime soccer. Woo-hoo! I had two solid one-touch goals and a few assists. It was 4-v-4, which was great; with the usual mob of 12-v-12, I hardly have time to look up for a pass before four defenders converge and steal the ball...

One guy kept griping about our team being offsides -- which was occasionally true, but, come on, no one's out there trying to screw the other team; being offsides just happens. After griping for a while, he literally took his ball and went home!

I decided to give the "latin fitness class" a try. It was fun, but I barely broke a sweat and my HR never got very high. It wasn't really much of a workout...

Soccer intervals (indoor) 25:00 [3]
slept:8.0 weight:122lbs

The consequences of my disgusting lack of activity lately were apparent tonight: I was totally sucking wind and my quads hurt after just a few minutes. That hasn't happened since I first picked up soccer again about a year ago. Ugh. Time to stop being lazy.

On the upside, we won 6-5.

Orienteering race 1:03:01 [3] 2.72 mi (23:10 / mi)
slept:8.0

I did Orange, the longest course offered at today's Bear Creek Lake Park meet. I repeatedly chose to bushwhack through thick, marshy brush -- which was unbelievably stupid. I knew it was stupid the first time I did it, and then for some reason I did the same thing on four or five more legs. I'm not a fan of that park as an orienteering venue anyway (it's open and urban), and crappy route choices that resulted in muddy, water-logged shoes didn't do anything to improve my outlook. Blah.
