Strength / Stretching (CrossFit) 1:15:00 [3]
slept:6.0 weight:126lbs shoes: Saucony Grid Omni TR

  • Warm up: jogging, jump-rope, stretching, 2 x 10 push-ups, 2 x 10 squats, and light kettlebell swings.

  • For time -- five rounds of: double-unders x 40 / 20" box jumps x 30 / 35# kettlebell swings x 20. I only did 20 double-unders on each round, since I'm terrible at them and otherwise it would've taken me two hours.... Also, I used 30# for the kettlebell swings. 27:30. I think it was a million degrees today.
Too bad I didn't make it to the gym on Saturday morning, as this was happening right outside the front door...:

Run / Hike 34:36 [3] 3.19 mi (10:51 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:126lbs shoes: Adidas Supernova Sequence 2

Jog at Davidson Mesa.

I got dressed to run at around 11am, but then I got side-tracked at the computer for at least three hours. Ugh. The silver lining is that a storm had moved in meanwhile and it was at least 10 degrees cooler and overcast by the time I finally got out the door.

Strength / Stretching 1:30 [3]

10 push-ups after each mile, for a total of 30.

Bike to Work Day!!!

The Interlocken breakfast station wasn't as elaborate as in past years, but I did manage to snag the very last cinnamon-crunch bagel from Panera's table, along with some snacks for later today (Izze soda, blue corn chips, and an orange).

Me and some of my extra-tall co-workers at the breakfast station:

Cycling (Bike Commute) 40:18 [3] 6.63 mi (6:05 / mi) +243ft 5:52 / mi

Home from work, after changing my rear tire. On my shortcut through the elementary school grounds, I caught two punks up to no good. I'm not exactly sure what they were doing, but they took off running FAST and yelled out something like, "hey man, we're leaving". There was a backhoe in the area they came from; maybe they were screwing around with it. I wish I had gotten their license plate number.

Strength / Stretching (CrossFit) 1:00:00 [3]
slept:6.0 weight:124lbs shoes: Adidas Supernova Sequence 2

  • 800m jog, stretching, and squats to warm up.

  • Clean-and-jerk technique work w/ PVC.

  • Ten rounds for time: clean and jerk x 5 / push-ups x 10 / squats x 15. The prescribed weight for women on the clean and jerk was 65#, but I used 55#. Also, I did modified ("girlie") push-ups. 21:22.

Orienteering race (Red course) 2:17:25 [3] 6.21 mi (22:08 / mi) +935ft 19:22 / mi
slept:7.0 weight:124lbs shoes: Vasque Adrenaline

Red course at Observatory in Nederland. I had lots of dumb mistakes, but nothing as disastrous as my DNF last year.

#4 was a parallel error, I know I pulled up short at the wrong pit on my way to #8, and I had an incredibly moronic route choice to #9; but what the heck was going on at #2 and #11?!? Sheesh.

Otherwise -- it was perfect weather at one of my favorite RMOC maps.

Strength / Stretching (CrossFit) 1:00:00 [3]

I can't remember the specifics, but it involved front squats, box jumps, and 400m runs.

Strength / Stretching (CrossFit) 1:00:00 [3]

  • Max set of unbroken kipping pullups and max set of (kipping) chin ups -- 6 and 4.

  • The modified version of the "real" workout was as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes of: 10-second handstand x 2 / strict press @ 60% of one-rep max x 3 / ring dips / pushups x 9. I probably used #35 on the press, and modified push-ups. Can't remember what my time was...
