Orienteering race (Schools League final) 20:23 [5] *** 3.0 km (6:48 / km) +45m 6:19 / km
spiked:12/15c shoes: New Balance 472

At Jhb zoo. I wasn't in contention for a price but went along anyway. It was a great course and I enjoy the area.
Number 1 was in the wrong place but luckily not by much so it was findable. I did lose about a minute on it though which probably cost me the win. Jess H won. She found #1 easily. (either got word of it as she started late or just made a lucky mistake). My navigation was pretty good. I pushed hard on the long legs at the beginning and kept up the momentum on the short legs at the end.

Orienteering race 27:05 [5] 2.6 km (10:25 / km)
shoes: New Balance 472

I got to run the womens course as soon as all the controls where out. I obviously knew where the controls were but I had to execute route choices so it was good practice and nice to get an expected winning time. I lost time walking up hills. Tania won in about 25 minutes.

Glad the event went well!

Orienteering 1:00:00 [1] 5.5 km (10:55 / km)
slept:8.0 shoes: New Balance 472

Put out controls for tomorrows event. I wanted to do the womens course to get a rough idea of how long it would take but we ran out of time. The traffic was horrible getting there and we were busy for 3 hours

Note
slept:7.5

Had cricket practice from 14:00 to 16:00. It was hot and everyone was lazy.

Thursday Mar 5, 2009 #

Note

I had tour da maths so couldn't go to track. Alex can't run and Lisa wasn't going to be there so not a bad one to miss.

Warmed up all alone.

Orienteering 25:00 [3]

A few more people decided to come so we did a star relay. I was in a team with Mike and we were lucky enough not to have our 'control' stolen. We also did some map memory things and puzzles

Track/speed work 4:25 [5] 1.0 km (4:25 / km)
shoes: Adidas Response

Didn't push very hard. I started nice and slowly.
