Celtics trailrun - Silvertree Route
Was feeling pretty good to start with but struggled up the hills towards the end. I think this is the toughest route out of the 6 but not by much.
Winter is coming! Carried headlights this week and used them in the last 5 or so minutes.

Running 30:13 [2] 4.58 km (6:36 / km) +15m 6:30 / km

Nice chilled jog. Patches of drizzle - can't believe how much rain we've had in the last few days!
Legs are feeling good so should be fine for Celtics tomorrow :-)

2 Oceans Half Marathon.
Happy to finally break 2hrs for a 21km. PB by 11 mins.
Started quite conservatively. Caught the sub 2hr bus at 7km and sat behind it until the top of Southern Cross Drive. Was feeling quite strong at the top so pushed on. Managed to run some decent splits from 14km onwards. And I didn't feel like death at the end which is always a winner! Few tweaks from the ankle and calf but they held up well.
Started in D batch which started 10 mins after A,B and C. We got moving quite quickly. Hit the back of C at about 4km but it wasn't too bad.
Enjoyed the Powerade at water tables (not a huge coke fan in races).

Note
(injured)

Frustrating few days with aching ankle which seems to have caused a sore calf and foot. RICE'ing hard!

Around the Common. Testing out the ankle. It's been fine walking around yesterday / today so thought I'd give it a try (and I'm going crazy not running). It felt fine taking it easy but a bit sore when I upped the pace. Hmmm, not ideal but hopefully it'll be fine with a bit more rest.

Note
(injured)

Ankle isn't 100% - giving it a few days rest. Being cautious ahead of next Saturday's 21.

Kloof Nek - Deer Park with Celtics
I've now done all 6 Celtics routes :-)
The legs are back! Small group 2 tonight. So less rest waiting for slower people to catch up and we had to 'fetch' the slowest person when we got halfway up the big hill.
Twisted my right ankle on the short single track section after cruising down the tar road near the end. Hoping it's not too bad.
No run next week as most people are running a 2 Oceans race.

Super short. Just not feeling great. Was hoping a good nights sleep would help but still feeling very average.

Orienteering 25:28 [3] 3.21 km (7:57 / km)

O training. 2 activities planned by Bruce in Bel Ombre Meadow.
First was placing cones and marking it on a map for a partner to find. Then going to find partners cones.
2nd was a short course around the park focusing on attackpoints.
Legs feeling dead...
4 PM

Orienteering 29:36 [2] 4.34 km (6:50 / km)
shoes: Trailrocs 245

A course on the Constantia Green Belt. Took it very easy, walking some sections. Couple more rest days planned this week to get some life back in the legs.

Root 44 - Stellenbosch Parkrun
Nice route winding through a vineyard.
I started quite far back so had a slowish first km. Picked it up a bit after that. Legs still feeling very tired.
Did some African X spectating afterwards.

Running 1:02:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:53 / km)

Celtic trailrun - Constantia Nek.
Was feeling pretty useless. Might have something to do with the scratchy throat I had last night. Struggled up the first hill - helped having Roark to chat to before he joined the fast group. Nice bit on the contour path and through Kirstenbosch but then an uphill drag to finish. Kept telling myself that routes like this make you strong.
Forgot my Garmin.

Ran along the Liesbeek canal to the N2 and then a short bit through the common at the end.
Was planning to run to do some Argus spectating this morning but decided to rather focus on getting my essay, which I've been struggling with, done.

Rondebosch Common Parkrun
200m walk to the start from where I stay. Felt alright but no zip in the legs. Overcast and humid day.

Celtic Trailrun - Kloof Nek - Lions head and Signal Hill.
Another great run. Relatively flat route with some technical rocky sections and great views. Legs weren't feeling great (right quad was grumpy) but managed to keep up fine. Reid is a good group leader!

You know that you are spoiled when the 20 min drive to Kloof feels far and it's the only time this week that you've had to get in your car!
