Oringen at Bushtrail.
My first blue course. Not the most pleasant experience. The first 6 controls were straight forward. The hill to 7 was a slog but I managed to plan the rest of my course. I caught Zoe at 8. By 14 I was starting to get really tired and desperate for water. I lost concentration on 16 and made a complete hash of a relatively simple control. Salome and about 5 other people caught me on the way to 17. We all followed Ian in to a green area which was horrendous and steep. I walked the rest of the way feeling awful. I was convinced I was going to drop down to green. My finish split kind of reflects how I was feeling.

Orienteering race 1:08:00 [5] *** 3.8 km (17:54 / km) +150m 14:57 / km

After a good moan to Alex, alot of liquid and finding out I wasn't the only one who found it tough I decided to do blue again. I started second last 40secs behind Cindy. I walked most of the way. I crawled up the hill to 5. By 10 I was barely moving so had a GU. I eventually passed Cindy at 13. My feet were really sore by the end.
Generally a pretty bad day.

Bit low on sleep. I was watching cricket last night and woke up at half 4 for an artillery display in Poch which was loud but really cool. My throat is a bit scratchy.

House play final. Spent the whole day at school (14hrs in total) because no one could pick me up and get me back again. So no exercise for me today.

Had inter-house play semi final this afternoon so felt pretty dead when I got home. Felt good to go for a run even though I was almost crawling.

Chickened out of going for a run because it's rather chilly today. Watched some Olympics

I left at 8:30. It was blowing a gale and was rather chilly. My left knee was a bit creaky to start. I took it really easy up the hill. The roads were quiet apart from a few other runners. Saw Deon coming up Oxford

Note

I had a migraine. I began to notice that I couldn't see properly while I was getting dressed for school. I took a mypradol which seemed to do nothing so I spent the morning in bed throwing up. I managed to fall asleep around lunch and woke up feeling much better. Watched the olympics and slept for the rest of the day.
Luckily I only seem to have one a year but I wish I knew what triggers them

Easy run with Alex. My legs are rather stiff.

Running 44:00 [4] 4.5 km (9:47 / km)
ahr:165 max:186 slept:8.0 shoes: Adidas Response

Ran with Alex to the park where we did some striding and short sprints. We worked out a good handicap so we could have some tight finishes. Bit out of practice so my arms were all over the place. We then ran up the hill and passed Bishop Bavin. Quite a tough session.

Running 30:34 [3] 4.0 km (7:39 / km)
ahr:161 max:185 slept:8.0 shoes: Adidas Response

A run with Alex. We did our park rhett's house route: 3.6km in 26:09 and I had a bit of a maths lesson which involved some interesting trigonometry principles. We actually saw Rhett and his brother running. We then did a bit of striding and skipping and had a good stretch.

Feels like I haven't been for a run in ages. I felt pretty decent. Hopefully I can make it to SA champs without getting sick again

Orienteering race (Long O at Gerotek) 54:22 [5] *** 3.89 km (13:59 / km) +80m 12:40 / km
ahr:181 max:194 10c shoes: New Balance 477

Generally a bad run. I thought the W16 course was rather short for Long O but it turned out to be a good thing. I battled to read the vegetation around 3 and when I did find it I miss read the no. so thought it wasn't mine. Relocated to the road and realised my mistake. I wasted about 6mins. From then on I was pretty slow. I was too high for 6. Jess caught me at 6. I took some good routes to 7 and 8 so managed to stay ahead of her. I walked/jogged to the last 2 controls. I suppose I expected a bit much from my lungs but my concentration should have been a lot better. Salome won in 40mins.
