Running 1:03:27 [3] 7.0 mi (9:04 / mi)
shoes: New Balance Vazee Pace (blue)

@ C & O

workout at least 6 miles under 9 min pace

10:32 / 8:52 / 8:51 / 8:43 / 8:44 / 8:50 / 8:50

Spent the whole time arguing with myself. I want to stop. Are you dying? No. Don't stop. An hour is a long time to keep convincing oneself not to stop. One of those runs. I only stopped at the turn around for a drink which is the one stopping indulgence I gave myself. Pleased. It's been a long time since I've done this. Still ever so slightly humid...

Orienteering 3:00:00 [3] 5.0 mi (36:00 / mi)
shoes: inov-8 X-Claw 275

OK, this was the third meet of the season and I'd yet to do any regular orienteering, so I left Max at home (still so hot) and I was determined to go long and slow to get some practice in. Did Green & it took me three very long hours. Reacquainting with map reading, distance estimation & compassing. Yes, I can still find controls. Yes, I didn't overrun the time. I forget so many things about the course afterwards, so I uploaded the GPS. I misestimated the distance on 13, I think I already thought I crossed the trail, but I had not. I overshot on the very last one, 16 and I was kind of despairing that I would lose the completion on the very last control and I was super hot and tired, but I found where I was and went back for it. I also had to reorient for 12 - I know I can't blame the other person, but sometimes when I'm close to another person and we are going the same pace, it throws me because I'd rather not follow because I'm trying to figure it out myself, so I wait and give them some time to get ahead, and then I forget where I am and inevitably, even with the waiting, I cross paths with them again. But I got to see the planes (so loud!) and so, so many spider webs. Absolutely no running, I didn't even try from the beginning & the workout was already in the morning.
