Still sore after monster pavement run (muscles - which is OK and knee - which is not so OK).

Went for an easy classic ski, -17. Tracks were fairly fast where it had been groomed, not so much on skier groomed trails. There has been alot of snow. But was on the hunt for the last Air North challenge ticket (missed one on an evening ski and had not been back to Raven since) so didn't stick to the well groomed trails.

Running 1:39:00 intensity: (1:29 @1) + (31:37 @2) + (43:39 @3) + (22:15 @4) 15.88 km (6:14 / km) +133m 5:59 / km

Run around seawall. As I have done before, was fast and flat and felt good so went out pretty fast. But the seawall was closed and had to run the road up to prospector point and pounded down the other side pretty hard - started to feel feel my knee a bit then. Altered my gait to make it OK for my knee but by 12 km my legs were cramping and felt terrible. Aerobically and anaerobically fine - just sore. Last 4 km were survival warm down exercises just to not cramp up because I still had to get home.

Was the pavement? Was is the fact that it is winter and so last run was over a month ago in South Africa? Is it the fact that I am almost 50? But man went from feeling great to not on this run ...
