Running 3:43:35 41.1 km (5:26 / km)
Certainly didn't plan to run this far but was enjoying the run so didn't want to stop. It was a 4hr loops trail race on largely single tracks at Davies Creek just up on the tablelands. Three loops were available: 14.5km, 7.2km or 3.2km although they were all a bit shorter than advertised. It started at 5pm, so initially in daylight, but it became dark about 1.5hrs in. I ran solo and was planning on stopping whenever I felt like it. There were bonuses for doing the long loops so I started on the 14km loop. Felt good at the end of that so continued on to do it again. Then didn't feel all that much worse at the end of that so continued on for a third time. Slowed down towards the end of the third loop both from fatigue and because I knew I had plenty of time to complete it. I was slightly disappointed that the loops were a bit short so I can't actually say I did a marathon :) Really nice area for running - very few completely flat sections but the hills weren't very large either. Definitely will be back here for some training runs and maybe some mountain biking as well. The wet weather spoiled the camping plans, but I'm sure there will also be other opportunities for that. I'm really enjoying all the events from the Adventure Sport NQ crew - they have a lot of enthusiasm, put on great cheap events and seem to always have really good random draws! Anyone planning to come up for the Australian Rogaining Champs in this area in June should have a lot of fun.
