Orienteering 1:13:15 intensity: (50:00 @3) + (23:15 @4) 6.8 km (10:46 / km)
shoes: Integrators 5000

Thoroughly enjoyed an outing to Mashomoquet Brook today. An old map that has aged pretty well (you can tell it's a cmorse) and a pretty physical course with some exciting laurel bashing. Hit it lucky the first time through on the way to number 5 by doing a big trail banana and stealing a fastest split from Carl, but then hit it badly on the way back through. Chose not to cut corners across places where the map had clearly not been surveyed, that was a good idea too. Forgot my watch so if anyone wants to see my routes, I can hand draw it later.

Felt awful before running, itchy throat and bad stomach. But felt much better whilst out. Not flying aswell as previous weeks, but very happy given how I felt beforehand. Definitely getting fitter.

Then went to the Vanilla Bean Cafe after a recommendation from JHen - delicious! I took a look at all the healthy options and went for the enormous plate of nachos with their famous chili. It was awesome. I only ate about a third of it though! Excellent recommendation. Then a stroll round Old Furnace State Park, but I was a bit tired and it was a bit hot for that really.

Woke up earlyish and had to spend an hour or so in work, so ran the long way. It's less fun this way - big hill at the start and then slowly descending into city nastiness, rather than steadily leaving it behind.

Note

And to bed. What a disaster. The SNP bring hope and terror all at once. What happens to Northern England now? We're screwed.

Note

"Woken up" just in time to see both Clegg and Miliband go. I have barely slept. I am worried for my country's position as a united country and as a member of Europe.

The future of publicly funded science in this mess? Who even knows.

Let's hope the American public have more sense than the British in 18 months time.

I ran into work to get rid of anger. Felt bizarrely okay for having had pretty much no sleep. Passed a guy who asked me to slow down and had a brief chat, apparently his LGBT friends back in the UK think the election had the best outcome for LGBT people. Are they completely crazy?

Note

Well I'm not going to sleep tonight. This is an astounding and terrible car crash.

Note

Eddie! With the onset of heat over the last few days almost every tomato plant has new green growth! Yey! They may survive after all!

Cycling 1:10:00 [1]

Rob joined me for an early evening recovery run at West Rock and it was lovely! I did better at not working too hard today, but still stayed half an hour too long.

Back to Freeletics. 4 sets of 50 press ups, 20 sit ups, 50 squats. Press ups were hard, the rest just filler. Then stretchy time.
